Pair Programming Via Screen

Some good suggestions from /. on using screen for pair programming. I didn't realize that screen could do this... definately helps if you want to pair program and don't have desks that allow two people to be close enough to the keyboard... Silv, Engel, and Foz will be interested in this. The original topic of this (Hydra) is cool too.

Very kewl! This was what I was saying about doing pair programming while telecommuting. Just use IP phones, and perhaps cams... and you can still take advantage of pair programming while being far away.

Neat find dude. Would be interesting to try some time.

Hey, that -x flag is indeed cool. In the past couple of months I've been doing pair programming off and on, even on Windows... by using things like TightVNC, NetOP and Webex. People telecommuting from home or partners from other countries would either share their desktop, or even VNC into the same server holed up in a server room somewhere. Very cool to log in, sit back and watch people, or alternatively just replay the movie of what they were working while you were out having lunch or getting more coffee.

Further to that, often we'll run the VNC/(or whatever desktop sharing tool is being used) in a lower resolution then your desktop, so that you can still run Jabber/ICQ/MSN beside that window, for asking questions (what does that line do? what did you just do? how could we do X? How's the weather?)
