Rejected iPod Themes

In light of the new U2 themed iPod, NSLog pointed to some Rejected Limited Edition iPods.

Etan also posts some of his thoughts on the newly released iTunes 4.7.

I want to know if there's such thing as Ipod themes instead of the white background. If so, please let me know...

Peace Folks,

On my MAC I have been using Alterpod for a little while now and have found it to be not only easy but FUN as F###!

If you RTFM (As they say - tee hee hee) you can take it step by step (which they detail extremely well).

You can then change just about everything that you could have done iPodWizard. Heck, I have played with it so much that I was able to download iPodwizard Themes to use through Alterpod - No big deal whatsoever.

Again, Just Read The Help section in Alterpod after you have installed it. You will see 2 main manuals (asides from all the tips) and it will guide you on how to change the images and how to change the "Strings" (strings are the text part in your iPod.. ie., "Now Playing", "Settings", "Games", "Music", "Extras", "Calendars" - you get the point right).

For Graphic Editing, I personally use PhotoShop which can navigate through all of the images and let's me alter them all without much fuss. The Main Idea is to KEEP the format, therefore do not save in anything other than .PPM or .PGM - like they are listed. (My iPod uses that format, I believe depending on the generation of the iPod there might be slight variation)

AlterPod supports GraphicConverter for viewing the files as well.

As for the "Strings" (text) you can actually just use a Text Editor (that's how easy they made it).

AlterPod, however, has the ability to view the images and send you directly to your Graphic Editor. It will also show you the Strings and let you alter them directly from their app.

AS FOR YOUR MAIN QUESTION to the white background, I have not touched that part yet and am not 100% sure if either Alterpod (MAC) or iPodWizard (Windows) can do this. But read the WIKI for iPodWizard.. mainly this page:

* http://www.ipodwizard.net/wiki/index.php/3G_icons_20060110
* http://www.ipodwizard.net/wiki/index.php/5G_icons_20060323

I have the Photo version (which I think is known as 4G) but this guide still gives you a good idea on what's in the images.

Here is one "Ultimate List" of themes created or known by iPodWizard:

http://www.ipodwizard.net/showthread.php?t=3978

if you download them you will see that they are BMP (Bitmap images) and still need to be converted. This should help you get started.

Hope this helps.

Peace

pRinCe
