Gregg has answered the question of Why Does Windows still suck with his own in a way, talking about how mac users should Clean their own house first. Good thoughts dude. It's pretty easy to feel superior and to ignore your own faults when examining someone elses. For example, something I hear from Windows People a lot in OS Religious wars is something along the lines of "but macs don't have OneNote! Or Halo2! they suck without those!" or something along those lines. Sadly (IMHO) this is similar to faulting a ford because it doesn't have a chevy logo on the engine, or a dell because you like the compaq logo more.
I would agree to some extent with the article, but the difference is a matter of magnitude, not substance.
Here are the criticisms I would have of the Mac/Apple:
1) Too expensive, but this may be changing with the Mac Mini and the Shuffle
2) A really nice way to install/uninstall stuff. It needs to be as easy as dragging the application to the hard drive, but the OS needs to register how to uninstall it, too. This includes stuff that is installed via CLI, and the various stuff that starts at boot, run as a "service", etc.
3) A better way to roll back OS updates. Right now, if something screws your system, you have to... REINSTALL! ick!
4) More consistency in their apps, and make it even easier for others to make consistent apps. Given, Apple is orderS of magnitude better than MS about this, but it could still use improvement.
5) Better printing interface. 10.3 is good, but it could get better
6) Better integration with windows, including exchange. Good, but not great right now.
7) You know what I want? I want the equivalent of a "device manager". I know, I know, it doesn't really need it, but it would be nice to have a management console like (or BETTER) than the one in Windows 2000/XP
