419 Megapixel Digital Back for the Photo Geeks to Drool Over

Better Light Introduces 416-megapixel Scanning Back. Not much to say here..... other than "Ugh". Quick specs:

  • 10,200 x 13,600 pixel images
  • almost 800mb output files
  • $22k

Oddly enough I don't think that the 20-30mp backs are that much cheaper.... 419 though, wow. Though according to my calculator it's 138.72 mp. Still, way more than I need right now for my galleries of cat pictures...

416/3 = 136.67
the pixel count is generaly done by color component

also, this is only for still life or some slow moving subjects - that's actually a scanner, with a moving sensor, not a full matrix.

Good points.... and of course you can't mention a scanning back without mentioning the scanner photography project (now defunct apparently): http://web.archive.org/web/20060205050520/www.scannerphotography.com
