Microsoft selling Office 2007 Ultimate for $60 (for students) via Forever Geek. If you go to the site it says it's only for students, which means:
You must hold a valid email address at a U.S. educational institution ending in .edu (for example, leina@contoso.univeristy.edu) AND be actively enrolled with at least 0.5 course load. Also, you must be able to provide proof of enrollment status (ie, student card) upon request by Microsoft. If you are unable to provide proof of enrollment, you will be required to pay the full retail price of Office Ultimate 2007 (approximate ERP $679USD).
$700 USD for an office suite!?!?!?!?! Holy crap!
Yep...
I'm working on a licensing quote for one of my customers (a K-12 school) via the MS School Agreement program. Vista is $24 CAN, Office 2007 Enterprise is $27 CAN. And there's an option where students can install the products at home as well for free.
I worked it out and for $4000, the school gets the same software that would cost a normal business $40,000
But the educational deal is based on software rental, so it's not a perpetual license. They must renew every year or else uninstall everything. Nevertheless it's a great deal, easier to budget since it's a yearly cost rather then every 4-5 years, and lets students always use the latest software. With the educational license you have the right to upgrade and downgrade to whatever version you would like.
