This page on vmyths has a fun look back at the propaganda and paranoia that was around the Michelangelo scare of 1992. I remember this as well, and saw a couple of newspaper stories on it. I think I even let my dad convince me to leave the computer turned off that day, as he knew we had some..... "aquired" software installed on our system. Found via the slashdot story.
