Skiff Reader Tablet Pics / Links

Speaking of tablets (sorry people-who-don't-care-anymore) 9to5 Mac points to Hearst's eReader and it's uber-coolness. I'm not sure if the bending is that important if it doesn't roll up (though I guess it'd help with not breaking it if it's in your bag or carry-on luggage), but the rest of it looks pretty awesome. Put in full color PDF reading, syncable through wireless or tethered 3G and I'm there.... (unless Apple has one that has the neural implant capabilities that are clearly indicated as it having through the chip shipment reports in Taiwan going up .... ;)

You'll get to see it at CES.

Now that is an excellent tablet. That will easily replace a bunch of books and newspapers...

I can imagine these things being available for sale at susidised prices in local newsagents, where you can then also buy a magazine or paper to put on it at the same time...

The problem IMHO with *all* the tablets is the "why do I buy one if I have an iphone and a laptop already" argument. There really has to be something more or some "ah ha" moment and not just the equivalent of a netbook without a keyboard to make it worth the cost or make it useful. IE: I can't put it in my pocket, and it'll probably have crippled netbook-like specs but still be big enough to make me have to carry it around so why not just use a laptop?

Hopefully there'll be interesting things forthcoming :)
