Today Stop SOPA day all around the net, with major websites blocking their content in protest of a (quite frankly) ridiculous bill that the US is trying to pass which, in addition to being completely stupid from the technical perspective (ie: wouldn't do anything) does have the potential to really mess things up on the Internet. Moreso for "normal" people than techies, who (as usual) will have no problems circumventing any of the blocking systems put in place. Not only that but the US government doesn't exactly have a good record in terms of regulation and getting their paws in the Internet's business.
TorrentFreak has a good wrapup of what's going on, and what the sites that are blacked out look like.
