OmniFocus for Mac goes free until OmniFocus 2 Is Released

Just saw that Mac Productivity software OmniFocus has gone free until OmniFocus 2’s debut.

Not a bad way to deal with the quandary of “should I buy now or wait for the upgrade?” question, being that the Mac App store doesn’t support upgrade pricing yet. Omnifocus 1 has been around for a while, is stable and good, but is also $80, and when the (Omni Group](http://www.omnigroup.com/) started talking about Omnifocus 2 people (myself included) asked themselves if they should buy now, or wait (being that Omnifocus 2 was a fair ways off (allegedly)).

The Omni Group has come up with a novel approach to dealing with the question of “should I buy OmniFocus now, or wait until I know what the next version is going to be like?” Since the company has already announced that the next major Mac version of its popular GTD-ready task manager will be unveiled on January 31 during Macworld 2013, it’s making the current version of OmniFocus for Mac free to use until then.

Of course, on their suggestion, I bought it ($79 is, in theory, a small price to pay for being productive) a few weeks ago. Sucks to be me I guess :( Really hope that their theory that they can get upgrade pricing working.
