I know that fox Fox Screwed Up ‘Firefly’, but I didn’t realize just how messed up the whole deal was:
In fact the whole production was almost derailed before it started by a disagreement over a basic plot point. Fox executives didn’t like that Serenity spaceship second-in-command Zoe (Gina Torres) was happily married to pilot Wash (Alan Tudyk), with no romance between her and Captain Malcolm Reynold’s (Nathon Fillion).
Comic-Con Trailer: The Walking Dead: Season 5
Oh HELL YEA.
Unless you’re a complete moron, you know that any “reality TV” bears little resemblance to reality. The 5 Details They Cut from My Season of ‘The Biggest Loser’ show nicely just how much telling the story overrode “reality”.
And sometimes the “healthy habits” you saw on the show were no such thing: My season made a big deal of showing us all drinking our milk to prove how nutritious it was. But as soon as “cut” was yelled, the trainers made us spit it out. Calories do not trump calcium, apparently.
HBO’s ‘Silicon Valley’ Premiere Is Streaming Online for Free. This looks like a better / more dramatic version of Betas which was produced by Amazon (and in my opinion, quit enjoyable).
Yup, the Game of Thrones Season 4 Trailer is out. Looks as epic as one would imagine. Can’t wait for this to show up! Come on April!
If “Breaking Bad” Had Been Set In The U.K seems particularily relevant as I just started watching it from Season 1.
Getting ready for the new season? Check out the Arrested Development ubercut: 18 running gags.
Are you a Whovian? Or even a fan of Doctor Who? You’ll want to make sure you watch the recap and prep trailer, featuring all your favorite Doctors.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Trailer 1 makes me think that maybe I’ll be checking out some new shows this fall…
Veronica Mars Season 4: FBI Pilot
Veronica Mars Season 4: FBI Pilot is a great tease for what to expect for the now financed
Veronica Mars Movie project. This should be pretty cool.
Sharp eyes over at Geeks of Doom noticed that there was an Extended ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 3 Trailer Released.
I so can’t wait for the season to start!
Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome trailer.
Yum. Can’t wait. There’ll be 10 short webisodes, but I know already I’ll want more.
Great compilation of 10 Doctor Who Episodes For New Fans To Check Out in preparation for the new series, starting this Saturday. Glad to see that my favorite episode of all time was honored in there too:
Repeatedly pointed to by fans as one of the best episodes of all-time in Doctor Who history, Blink is one of writer Steven Moffat’s finest hours.
Of course, all the listed episodes are amazingly good, and you should stop everything you’re doing right now to watch them all.
The Doctor Who: New Series 7 Trailer has tons of goodness. Can’t wait!
Series 7 ‘Doctor Who’ Trailer Has Dinosaurs On A Spaceship & Iconic Daleks Of Death!
Doctor Who Series 7 is believed to premiere on August 25 this year, with the first half being televised before the Christmas Special, the Christmas Special introducing new companion Clara played by Jenna Louise-Coleman, and then the second half of the season rounding everything up during the first half of 2013.
It’ll be really, really interesting to see if Red Dwarf X is, awesome, awesomeer, or sucky. I’m really hoping it’s in the “awesomeerer” category.
Some friends of mine have soured on Dexter a bit lately, but after watching the 2 Minute Sneak Peek of Dexter Season 7 I have no idea what they’re talking about.
Kudos to @khaled for pointing it out.
Sweet! Check Out Bryan Singer’s Scifi Web Series.
X-Men director Bryan Singer is cooking up something kinda groundbreaking: a sprawling, science fiction epic series made for the Internet. Why the Internet? Because it’s about a future where humans are hardwired to the ‘Net.
Count me in to hardwired to the net. Other than the bad things of course :)
I don’t know if I’m convinced by the trailer for the new American “Sherlock Holmes” Series Elementary (coming fall 2012), but I think I’ll give it a try anyway, it might not be a atrocity!
On a bit of a Firefly kick this afternoon, so I present you with Adam Baldwin singing “Hero of Canton.”
Damn I miss this show :(
Great news from Geeks of Doom - The ‘Doctor Who’ Teaser Trailer For Series 7 Is Here!. Whooo!
In other BSG news, I haven’t seen the Leaked “Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome” Trailer until now, but I have to say that it is awesome. Amazing looking and great choice of music and pacing. I had seen this noted a while back but the trailer was pulled. This one is still up and I can’t wait for this to air.
Update: I just saw this saying that the project isn’t moving forward. Now I want to cry :(
My buddy over at the awesome RainGeek posted today about Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome with an update that the series might be picked up and turned into a real series. I have to agree with him, I definitely don’t want to live in a world without spaceships on TV.
Watch The First 3 Minutes Of ‘The Walking Dead’ Season Two Return.
Can’t wait until February 12 for the return of The Walking Dead? Well, while it’s not the full episode, AMC has debuted the first three minutes of the upcoming midseason premiere, and it’s a doozy.
Booya! If you’re not watching The Walking Dead already time to catch up on it ASAP. One of the best shows on TV.
Sight unseen I’m going to say that I can’t wait for this to come out. Here’s the trailer, via Geeks of Doom.
Come on April!
I finally watched the final episode of season two of BBC’s Sherlock (an awesomely excellent show which everyone must watch) and was reminded by my friend @GlasgowGurl75 to find and grab the texting alert sound from it. Took a bit of looking (ok, one google search) and I found the Text Alert Ringtone
Below is a link to the folder containing the iPhone Ringtone file (TheWoman.m4r) that if you have IOS 5 you will be able to set as an alert message for whomever you think worthy. I’ve also included an MP3 version for other phones. (TheWoman.mp3) Just right click or control-click the file of your choice and download it!
From @halkeye's twitter comes a look at the new Star Trek TNG BluRay transfer with a sweet movie and some nice comparison screengrabs.
Check Out The Full Trailer For 'The Walking Dead' Season 2 | Geeks of Doom. Sorry about the preroll ad :( Can't wait for the new season of TWD though.
SlashFilm has two 'Dexter' Season 6 Previews. New season starts on October 2, can't wait!
Geeks of Doom has a cool and Epic 'Doctor Who' Infographic Showing the History Of The Companions.
Found via JWZ.... Myth busted! is a breakdown of what goes into an hour long show of Mythbusters. Turns out, not a lot of new content :\
Watch the first 8 minutes of MTV's Teen Wolf!
Sadly not available to Canadians :( Screw you MTV. Eh.
Delmar shared this on Facebook and as a fan of Firefly I had to pass it on: Mal's Song. Basically a full version of the Firefly theme song with full lyrics and a well edited video to go along with it. To echo Del's comment, dammit, now I must go out and watch all of Firefly again....
First Full-Length Trailer for Doctor Who Season Six. OMG epic. Thanks Aryk, now I need a change of pants.
Aryk sent the lin kfor the First Teaser for Torchwood: Miracle Day and I have to say that even though it basically shows nothing, I cannot wait for this to start!
Created from Sci-Fi Wire, here's a video with clips of the 32 best quotes from Joss Whedon's Firefly.
So awesome. I'm thinking I might re-watch the whole series this weekend.
Nice collection of the 15 of the Best 90′s TV Shows from Nickelodeon. Nice little flashback for some of us, though honestly the only one in there that I really remember is Ren and Stimpy.
ForeverGeek.com brings a trailer of the TRON animated series. I like the look of it for sure! Anyone know a date other than "coming soon"?
I was wondering why a post from a new redditor was so high on the main page when I was reading a different thread and finally grokked the name. Masuka is the other blood splatter analyst in the TV show Dexter that is the crass, perverse, and overall awesome guy (who gets way too little screentime IMHO). Anyway, it's his AMA that hit the main page.
BTW, if you don't watch Dexter, you must start now. Don't start with Season 5 though, go first watch season 4. Actually season 3. Maybe 2. Actually just start with season 1 and work you way up, it's well worth it.
YouTube - Sesame Street: True Mud is a great True Blood parody. Thanks to K at work for pointing me to this.
Great wrap up of the Greatest geek moments from the 2010 Emmys, which I managed to miss completely.
This could be awesome or horrible. Seems the BBC is going to be doing a one hour pilot of a potential Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Series. It'll be done by the same guy who did Misfits, which I enjoyed, but the issue is that as with all things from Douglas Adams, translating the awesomeness of the series from text to screen will be hard.
Still, I'll watch it and hope they pick it up as a series. If nothing else it will give me an excuse to re-read the series, which was fantastic, and if you haven't read it yet, I recommend you start immediately.
Found TPB on Justin.tv via this reddit post via /r/trailerparkboys via this great post.
If you don't know Trailer Park Boys, do check it out, it's great TV with surprisingly deep characters, and not the stupid "handycam show about stupid people who do drugs and swear" that it appears on the surface. Now with the streaming link there's no need to hit up the torrent sites for the Season1-7+extras torrent (though watching them all in order is a ++.
If you're into True Blood you probably will be interested in baby vamp Jessica's video blog.
Lost Alternative Endings and Unanswered Questions - great video... hilarious stuff (but only if you're a Lost fan of course).
If you think that you're ok with the ending of Lost, you probably won't want to watch this video with a loooooong list of unanswered questions :) Thanks to @milesforrest for the link.
Funny LOST screen time pie chart from Joy of Tech. Speaking as someone who went from never having seen a single episode in February to being up to date and waiting for the last episode, I endorse this pie chart.
Another Lost themed cartoon this morning is from Hijinks Ensue, which says it all I think.
As someone who has spent the last 3 months watching seasons 1-6 of Lost, this chart makes complete sense.
Just reminding ya'll that True Blood is coming back for Season 3 in just over a month. Yay for non-woosy vampires!
A great wrap up of LO(L)ST: Season 1 using LOLCats. I just finished watching Lost Season 5, so I heartily approve this message.
Darren threw me over the Doctor Who Alignment Chart. Interesting placement of the last Doctor IMHO, but someone has to go in that slot I guess. More over on metafilter.
Very cool video from Leo Laporte about The making of Old Spice's commercial: The Man Your Man Could Smell Like. Very neat to watch.
Doctor Who in 3D For A Short Time Only:
Here's one good reason to see Alice In Wonderland in UK cinemas: Screenings will be accompanied by the new Doctor Who trailer (premiering tomorrow on British television) in glorious 3D.
Not sure if I agree with the 3D thing, but can't wait for anything new to do with Doctor Who.
Aryk pointed me to a slashdot article on the Star Wars TV Show forthcoming at some point.
Neat find of What Would The Oceanic 815 Crash From 'Lost' Look Like On '24′? Not recommended for non-Lost views though, or at least those not completely caught up. I for one have never watched it, but realize that I need to start.
For those of you Who fans off the end of the 10th Doctor (bye bye David Tennant, you were great) and wondering what the new series and the new Doctor will bring, check out the Doctor Who: Series 5 trailer released. Sadly we'll have to wait till "spring" to see what the new season brings.
Definitely a sign of the world we live in, the twitter account @shitmydadsays has been picked up as a sitcom. I'm not sure if this is really that outside of the standard sitcom formula of "family with crank old man dad character", but the fact they attribute something to twitter is interesting.
Course, it could also be the whole thing is a scam and the twitter account was setup when the show was quietly created. The account has only been active since August 3rd, and somehow 73 tweets in three months isn't something that I could see a high powered TV exec picking up, but hey, stranger things have happened.
IO9 has a fantastic collection of 14 Reasons Why TV And Superheroes Don't Mix. Somehow the bad CGI in say, Spiderman 3 don't seem too bad compared to the 1977 version :)
IO9 posted some video clips of vintage G.I. Joe. Wow, brings back some random memories from way back in the day...
In more Red Dwarf news, Dave Announces Broadcast Schedule and part of it is April 10 having the first new episode, Back To Earth - Part One.
Very exciting.
Also the Doctor Who Easter Special will be coming up at the same time.

Bits about the Red Dwarf upcoming return to the screen(s) found at io9: Red Dwarf Crashes Into The Internet.
IO9 (again) has a sneak peek trailer from SciFi for Caprica. This one actually makes it look interesting!
Chock full of spoilers, but a nice wrap-up and summary of the season finale episode of BSG over at IO9's Battlestar Finale Review: As Battlestar Ends, God Is In the Details.
Note - there are spoilers, so if you don't want to know, don't click.
Battlestar Finale Review: As Battlestar Ends, God Is In the Details
Via Reddit is a very cool BSG Space Timeline image, which tries to map out just WTF is going on in the series.
An interview of Robert Llewellyn on MacBreak Weekly pointed me to Red Dwarf exclusive images on the Dave TV site. Also note that Robert Llewellyn has a podcast called "Carpool" on iTunes, looking forward to checking that out.
Another Digg link... the Top 10 Moments From 24 comes to you because I'm looking forward to tonight's episode :)
Just so no one forgets, Battlestar Galactica is back with the second half of the final season tonight at 7pm PST on Space (here in .ca anyway). A few things you need to know (at least my Canadian Shaw Cable watching brethren)...
The BSG fun actually starts way earlier, with older episodes playing at 3 and 4pm, at 5 some show called "The Circuit" (playing a special on Battlestar Galactica), then at 5:30 the "top 10 things you need to know" show to get you ready, then at 6 there is a hour long "Battlestar Galactica: The Webisodes The Face of the Enemy" show, which I hope is a compilation of all of the webisodes produced (the 3.5 webisodes were only about 4 minutes long). Then finally at 7 is the new episode "Sometimes a Great Notion".
Then after that, at 8 is a fan forum discussion show to "discuss season 4". It's a re-run, but I haven't seen it yet.
So prep your TIVOs and PVRs to make sure you catch all that you need to!
