Oahu Transit Services Incorporated, trading as TheBus operates a comprensive system of routes on Hawaii's most populous island. Routes mostly concentrate on the Downtown, Waikiki, University of Hawaii and Ala Moana Center areas of Central Honolulu but also to some of the more distant locations on Oahu such as Kalihi, Pearl City and the North Shore. The latter location is served as part of a 4 hour circle island route formed by routes 52 and 56 with Turtle Bay Resort as the destination change point. This is a very worthwhile trip to do if time in Hawaii is limited as the loop is very scenic with long stretches on the Kamehemeha Hwy that run beside the ocean.

TheBus operates just like any other typically American operation with flat fares (currently US$2, cash boxes accept $1 bills) and the option of a transfer valid for 90 minutes after boarding the first vehicle. All buses are of the standard North American style and the fleet is comprised of mostly Gillig, New Flyer D60LF standard diesel and DE60LF hybrid diesel articulateds. The articulateds are more commonly found on the lettered routes which are a system of Limited Stop Express services. All major cross roads, most major hotels and resorts in the Waikiki area and other stops with important attractions are announced by an automated system on board. Being Hawaii after all most drivers are relaxed, friendly and very approachable for information.
