Wow, hearing that Oregon Trail is turning 40 this year makes me feel oooooolllllllddddd.

I first played this game in grade 7 when the only computers we had access to was a mobile computer lab (basically a trailer that was shared from school to school with about 20 computers (probably mac 2s or something)). I remember playing hours of Oregon Trail and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, looking up at the poster of flags of the world to figure out where Carmen had gone that had a red and white flag.
