Linux Device Driver Tutorial
A neat looking tutorial on Writing device drivers in Linux. Very well laid out and easy to understand and read. Only question now is what needs a driver written for it? :)

White Men Can't Rap
Darren pointed me to a page called White Men Cant Rap where...
I think we've found that man. Step aside Jay Z, move on Eminem we are proud to present the real prophet of rhymes.
About half the video is the guy explaining things, after that it's sheet white rapper glory!

UT2007 Gameplay Videos
Here are a couple of gameplay videos from the new version of Unreal Tournament. UT2004 was my favorite game until I became a slave to Battlefield 2, and I see BF2 being eclipsed by UT2007 when it comes out :)

Smart Car.... "Upgrade"
As my buddy Boone says, it's not often you see someone upgrade their car by putting a motorbike in. Sadly not the best res for the video, still neat to watch though.

Recent Windows XP Updates Cause Freeze on Desktop Right Click
Took me a bit to find the solution to this issue I started having today after a windows automatic update..... turns out that KB908531 is at fault, and removing that in the add/remove programs fixes all (at least for me). Symptoms I had were that if I right clicked on the desktop, it would freeze up and I'd have to kill explorer.exe in the task manager to get my system back.
Hope this helps someone.

Duke Nukemm WhenForever On the Road To Completion?
Darren pointed me to an article on Duke Nukem Forever Status. My first reaction is "this is 12 days late" (for april fools day). The game, which I think has become a bigger joke than Daikatana was (and I can't see a different fate for it than that of Daikatana), is apparently getting towards the end of it's competion cycle, with a half million dollar bonus to be paid if the game ships prior to Dec 31 2006.
Of course, the real question is that if the game actually ships, can it compete (with it's "heavily modified engine containing elements from the Unreal Engine") with something like Crysis, which looks amazing?
But, according to the piece, Broussard was bashful, overall, about showing off the game, commenting: "The problem is that when we show it, people are going to be like, 'Yeah, whatever'. Honestly, at this point we just want to finish it."
That last sentance really don't instill me with the impression of a game that's going to kick ass and take names, but instead something that is ripe for ridicule and the bargin bin at the local game store...
That said, I'll wait (and wait, and wait....) and see :)

Cute Captions
I'm a sucker for cuteness, so I had to post the
CuteOverload Caption Me! page. An extension of
Cute Overload, it's basically cute pictures with cute captions (provided by you, the reader). All web 2.0 ish as well.

The Internet Clipboard.... nifty Tool
Chris points to the Internet Clipboard, which is a really simple way to share information, potentially avoid cut/paste issues between separate computers, avoiding firewalls, etc. Nifty stuff.

Very Nice Model Helicopter
According to the information here, this scale model HIND took 8-10000 hours to build and is accurate down to the rivet separation. Apparently these guys made a business out of making models for clients. Man, I was doing that in my basement when I was a kid making some pretty cool stuff (I've won prizes I might add, I have cred!) and I never thought that people would buy 'em.
Regardless, it's a damn nice model :)

MT 3.2 Upgrade
Finally upgraded the site from MT 2.6x to the latest version, as in the upgrade of the server I lost all my blogspam blacklist info (database incompatibility from x86 to x86_64), and had to clean 300+ blogspam this morning. Figured the quick and easy upgrade to mt 3.2 would fix that easily enough.
Some day I might even upgrade the look of the site for those who don't read via RSS :)

George Takei on Howard Stern
Well, he was only on for a week in January, so when I say "on Howard Stern" I really mean "on his stint on...." Anyway, it's an interesting writeup
on his blog (no RSS Feeds George!). He talks about how his experience was and why a person like him would be on a show "like that" (disclaimer: I love the stern show... ba ba booey!)

Database Cleanup
Hey guys, I did some rearranging with the databases on this server and found a bunch that had errors (missing the .MYI files for a table, but still having the .frm and .MYD files). This was preventing me from being able to backup the database properly and of course, the tables didn't work properly. If any of these tables are yours and things that used to work suddenly don't, let me know. However, most of the files were dated in 2001 or 2002, so I am pretty sure these are all old and dead files that have been long forgotten.

Linux Audio Player Review
Linux.com has a nice review of a users
quest for a Linux audio player. A good overview of what was going on in the audio player world. End conclusion (from myself as well) is that some are better than others, some suck worse than others, and depending on what you are looking for there are a variety that'll work for you. Still no One True Player though.

Escalator Diving
If I had a "dumbass" category this would be the top of the list. Buzz Patrol has the revelation that
Escalator diving isn't a smart activity. Not for the weak of stomach, or to be viewed while or just before eating, some blood shown at the end.
Argument #18 for natural selection....
