Super Troopers 2 is going the crowd funding route:
Several moons ago, we made a little indie movie called Super Troopers, which we debuted at Sundance in 2001. We’re proud of how it turned out and apparently it struck a chord with many of you out there because almost daily we get asked “Who wants a mustache ride?” (“Who doesn’t?”) or “Did you chug real maple syrup?” (“Yes, and we will never, ever, ever do it again.”) or “How is the view from sugar heaven?” (“Sweet.”)
This is awesome, contribute now. Super Troopers was awesome, I can’t wait for Super Troopers 2!
First of all, the new Mission Impossible trailer:
Next you’ll notice the plane scene at the end of the trailer, and you think to yourself, wow, that’s a cool effect, of course there’s no way they’d let a big star like Tom Cruise actually do that in real life, right? Well…. he said that the Plane Scene was ‘The Most Dangerous Thing I’ve Ever Done’:
The scene in question, which can be seen at the end of the brand new trailer, sees his character Ethan Hunt strapped to the side of an Airbus A400M plane as it takes off.. and Cruise was doing it for real.
You can’t help but respect the man.
Universal Music Hijacks YouTube Videos of Indie Artist
Universal Music Group has hijacked several YouTube videos of Bjorn Lynne, an independent musician from Norway. The world’s largest music corporation is now running advertisements on videos of music tracks Lynne created, and is refusing to correct the mistake.
Seriously a nightmare scenario, combining huge bureaucracy, tons of money, and a real David vs Goliath fight, except I suspect in this case David isn’t going to win.
Saw that Google Code is shutting down. This is a bit sad to me, I always had thought it was nice to have a google backed system for source code hosting. I wonder where everyone is going to? BitBucket? GitHub? Anyone know?

TorrentFreak reports that uTorrent Quietly Installs Cryptocurrency Miner
The complaints mention the Epic Scale tool, a piece of software that generates revenue through cryptocurrency mining. To do so, it uses the host computer’s CPU cycles.
The guys at uTorrent say they’re not aware of any issues, but if you’ve noticed that your uTorrent-running-computer has been running more lately, it’s something to look at for sure.
Sync 2.0 is out, and looks pretty damn good.
All of the core functionality we introduced in version 1.4 last August still exist in 2.0, letting you securely share folders across all platforms, with visibility into who has access.
A bunch of new functionality has been added, from enhanced user interfaces across desktop and mobile platforms to a new certificates-based security model with even greater control and ease-of-use. Go here to check out all the many new features in Sync 2.0.
Oracle extends its adware bundling to include Java for Macs:
As with its Windows counterpart, the Java installer selects the option to install the Ask app by default. A casual Mac user who simply clicks through the dialog boxes to complete the installation will find the app installed and enabled in their browser, with the New Tab page changed to one with an Ask search box.
Ugh :(
Here’s more details on how it works:
For the purposes of Gatekeeper, Apple verifies the identity of the developer, but not their intent. It’s up to you to ensure that the applications you install and run on your Mac come from the people you think they came from, and we’ll show you how to do that.
