Someone has done a lovely deep dive and put up a story with Every Episode of Star Wars, Ranked. Hard to disagree here.
We get answers to questions about what Darth Vader was like as a teenager. What drove him to the dark side? How did he cope with the loss of his mother? How does he feel about the texture of sand?
SSomething trippy for you this morning… Fight Club minus Tyler Durden. Some enterprising and super cool dude has gone and removed Tyler Durden from a scene in Fight Club.
Fight Club minus Tyler Durden from Richard Trammell on Vimeo.
Cool stuff, check out some of his other work as well.
I have to say that the 10 Cloverfield Lane Trailer was filmkaker 101 on how to make a trailer that reveals nothing yet makes it so I can’t wait to see this movie.
Star Wars: The Force Accounted is a round up of time and stats for all the Star Wars movies.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Official Trailer 2. Not much more to say than this… it looks great!
THE HATEFUL EIGHT, the 8th film from Quentin Tarantino has a teaser trailer out.
Just when you thought the trailer parade was over, check out Ash vs Evil Dead, with Bruce Campbell in what looks like the perfect way to come back to the series.
Can’t wait for this one as well!
Lots of amazing posts lately. Lets go!
Deadpool’s trailer leaked. It’s horrible quality, and may be deleted soon, but it’s still awesome.
Fear the Walking Dead has got an official trailer. My wife hates zombie shows, so this one I’ll be watching alone.
Last, but definitely not least comes a long trailer for Batman vs Superman, possibly the most awesome one yet. I don’t care what you naysayers say, Battfleck looks great and this looks like a great follow up to the previous (and not that well received) superman movie.
Original Star Wars Script Found, Solves Long-Running Mystery, but it wasn’t ever really a mystery was it?
… one of the most interesting revelations resolves the case of the shoot-out at the cantina. In the original, Solo fires at Greedo without warning. The 1997 version of the film altered the scene to make it look like Solo was acting in self-defense. It was a move that enraged fans (though not as much as the introduction of Jar Jar Binks). But librarian Kristian Brown, who discovered the script, told CBC, “Based on the script, I can tell you 100%, Han shot first.”
…. was it….
Great little video showing a lot of the practical effects and setups that were used in Max Max: Fury Road via this B-Roll footage.
The just released Jurassic World - Official Global Trailer shows a bit more of the plot and while I’m not convinced, I know I’ll be there opening weekend regardless…
Super Troopers 2 is going the crowd funding route:
Several moons ago, we made a little indie movie called Super Troopers, which we debuted at Sundance in 2001. We’re proud of how it turned out and apparently it struck a chord with many of you out there because almost daily we get asked “Who wants a mustache ride?” (“Who doesn’t?”) or “Did you chug real maple syrup?” (“Yes, and we will never, ever, ever do it again.”) or “How is the view from sugar heaven?” (“Sweet.”)
This is awesome, contribute now. Super Troopers was awesome, I can’t wait for Super Troopers 2!
First of all, the new Mission Impossible trailer:
Next you’ll notice the plane scene at the end of the trailer, and you think to yourself, wow, that’s a cool effect, of course there’s no way they’d let a big star like Tom Cruise actually do that in real life, right? Well…. he said that the Plane Scene was ‘The Most Dangerous Thing I’ve Ever Done’:
The scene in question, which can be seen at the end of the brand new trailer, sees his character Ethan Hunt strapped to the side of an Airbus A400M plane as it takes off.. and Cruise was doing it for real.
You can’t help but respect the man.
Really, who cares about anything today other than the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Official Teaser
Yup, it’s finally here, the first trailer for Jurassic World.
A natural progression, probably horribly predictable, and you can bet I’ll be there opening day!
The first Chappie Trailer has hit the web. From the directory of District 9 and with a similar tack.
I’m amazed at how good CGI is… I really didn’t not believe the main character for a second, and if you think about it, it’s all created inside a computer. Amazing tech.
The teaser trailer for Pixar’s new movie, Inside Out is out!
So, what do you think?
Watch The First 8 Minutes Of The Anti-D&D Movie Or Your Soul Is Doomed
Jack Chick’s notorious comic tract Dark Dungeons taught us all that playing Dungeons & Dragons will ruin your life and condemn your soul to hell. Now that comic is a movie all about the satanic pleasures of RPGs.
Hilarious.
Great trailer for The Theory of Everything, a biopic about Stephen Hawking’s young days.
Some of this trailer seems to sell a pretty typical biopic. But the team of James Marsh and these two leads inspires a lot of confidence, and it is almost impossible to fail to be moved by Hawking’s story. The love celebrated here, however, wasn’t as eternal as the trailer would like us to think, and it’s that selective vision that makes it feel perhaps too optimistic. Because the film is based on Jane Hawking’s memoir, I’m curious to see how far the film really goes.
Looks pretty amazing.
So finally a trailer for Kevin Smith’s new movie, TUSK, has hit YouTube. Here it is.
If you have no clue what is going on, this is a horror movie that came about on Smodcast Episode 259, where he and his podcasting co-host discuss weird stuff, and in it was a Craigslist post of a guy offering free room and board in exchange for spending one hour a day dressed, and acting like a Walrus. Smith and Mosier joked about it and came up with the back story in the podcast. At the end he asked twitter followers to tweet either #WalrusYes or #WalrusNo to see if there was enough interest.
I can’t wait for this movie.
This Guy That Has Broken Into Coachella, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and the Grammys, check the trailer below and the interview on the page.
Amazing footage and a great story. Now I want to break into concerts.
The Imitation Game stars Benedict Cumberbatch as 0Alan Turing breaking the German Enigma machine during World War 2.
It really looks fantastic, and it’ll be very interesting to see how they deal with the whole “condemnation as indecent (for being gay) and chemical castration” thing (thankfully the UK government apologised and pardoned him, though 55 years too late.
I think that Mr. Cumberbatch can do justice to this role however.
Here’s another (lower resolution, but longer / different) trailer.
Found this hilarious re-enactment of the Maleficent pitch meeting on reddit.
Having not seen the movie, I can only assume this is completely accurate.
The new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy gives a bit more of the reveal for the story. Really excited about this one.
The Ape-Human War Begins In New Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes Trailer
Must say I’m looking forward to this one.
SPOILERS
If you’ve seen Spider-Man 2 you’ll know the movie, while visually great, has a few issues. CHeck out The Amazing Spider-Man 2: The Amazing Spoiler-FAQ to have some of these issues answered, though sometimes only with the answer of “crappy storytelling”.
Obviously the article is spoiler filled.
Lucy is a bit like the movie Limitless, but not really. Looks really awesome actually, I can’t wait for this one to come out.
Thanks to Jim for the link.
Cameron Diaz’s ‘Sex Tape’ comedy mixes iPads, iCloud and debauchery showing how ‘nobody understands the cloud’. Ok, this was pretty damn funny.
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - Official Trailer (2014):
Now there’s a lot to think about here. I don’t like that it looks like it’s an origin story, and how (I’m guessing) they’re going to explain the turtles. They don’t need explaining. They’re teenage mutant ninja turtles. Nothing more needed. Then there’s Michael Bay. I see lensflare in the future. Though I see some good here.
If you’re looking for more, check out the reddit discussion thread.
A second trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past was released this morning.
Looking forward to this…
Pretty sure I’ve posted the Bad Words Official Red Band Trailer before, but listening to Jason Bateman being interviewed on the Howards Stern show made me watch it again. And share it again. Oooh yea.
Here’s the First full-length Guardians of the Galaxy trailer:
Thanks Aryk.
Nice story about how $25k that should have been the marketing campaign for ‘Walter Mitty’ was spent on on Philippines Disaster Relief
He explains how he received an email from Fox, inviting him to take part in a promotional campaign inspired by Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. “Dear Casey, Fox is releasing a new movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. We want to run a campaign under the concept, ‘Live Your Dreams,’ “ Neistat said to the camera. “The collective theme behind this initiative is to motivate, inspire and give people a catalyst to do something they’ve never done. We’d like to know if you’d be interested in creating a video about living your dreams.” He responded: “Here’s my concept. Give me a budget, I’ll go to the Philippines and spend every penny helping people in need.”
Of course, the more cynical among us would be the sort to say that this is still getting them PR for the movie (which is great by the way, I really enjoyed it, it’s about the most un-Ben Stiller-ish movie of his I’ve seen).
The trailer for 22 Jump Street looks as zany and fun as the first reboot.
First Full Length Trailer for Godzilla:
Gotta say I’m looking forward to this.
How Did Disney Animate Such Beautiful Snow for ‘Frozen’? SlashFilm has a great video look at it.
Starship Troopers: One of the Most Misunderstood Movies Ever in The Atlantic. I’m so glad that one of my favorite movies is finally being seen as something other than a vapid and silly version of the original (awesome, hardcore) book.
But those critics had missed the point. Starship Troopers is satire, a ruthlessly funny and keenly self-aware sendup of right-wing militarism. The fact that it was and continues to be taken at face value speaks to the very vapidity the movie skewers.
I don’t care about them remaking stuff all the time, for example, this ‘RoboCop’ Trailer: Let’s Play Bad Cop/RoboCop looks bloody awesome.
The LEGO® Movie finally has an Official Trailer. It actually looks kinda good. Thanks Jim for the link!
X-MEN: Days of Future Past now has an official trailer with a fair hint at how it’ll be setup.
I’m not going to say anything more about Captain America’s First Winter Soldier Trailer other than to quote a great man (myself) in saying…
Oh.
Hell.
Yea.
Trailer below.
I’m not normally one for bromance movies, but the “boner pill” section of ‘That Awkward Moment’ Red-Band Trailer was absolutely hilarious.
‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ International Trailer over at /Film. I’ve been a huge fan of the Jack Ryan novels from Tom Clancy, and even though this is really a “based on the characters” movie, I’ll still be there. Looks like a nice mix of Spy Game and The Bourne Identity. Looking forward to it.
Just watched the trailer for Avalanche Sharks on io9. I’m. I’m. Speechless.
The first new Godzilla movie footage is monstrously awesome. Oh yea.
‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ Trailer.
Not much more to say, other than “wow”.
Ron Howard: ‘The Dark Tower’ Is Alive, Enjoying Quiet Development via /Film.
I’ve written about the Dark Tower as a film many times before, mostly with a bit of trepidation as to how you do justice to such a huge story in a film or 3 (or for that matter, 10). Well, sounds like it’s setup as a three film series linked with a TV series.
As with all things, I’ll believe it when I see it, and I’ll go see it, no matter what.
A Look At The Special Effects Created For ‘Pacific Rim’ Prologue from Geeks of Doom.
Amazing stuff, shocking sometimes to see just how little “there” is there. Keep an eye out at around 2:58 to see just how little of the scene is “real”.
The Second Trailer For The ‘Carrie’ Remake is out. I still don’t think that Chloe Grace Moretz “is” Carrie, at least how I imagined her reading the book, but damn the movie looks good.
‘Ender’s Game’ Set Visit: 30 Things We Learned About the Film over at /Film.
- Everyone knows the Battle Room is the most highly anticipated location in the movie - Within the first ten minutes of our set visit, producer Linda McDonough said way before filming started they knew zero gravity in the Battle Room was the thing all the fans were curious about. Extra-special attention was paid to it.
I can’t wait for this movie to come out.
This fake Batman/Superman trailer is so great even Batfleck looks good:
Interesting question - Would These Changes To ‘Star Wars’ Prequel ‘Attack Of The Clones’ Have Made It Good?.
Really great video, but make sure you watch the What if Episode I was good to get into the series.
The only way I’ve been able to describe ETERNA is a “supercut of awesomeness”.
Ok you are dead inside if you don’t think this trailer for Sharknado isn’t totally awesome.
Note that I mean that the trailer is awesome, I wouldn’t go near the movie with a ten foot pole….
All aboard the ludicrous train fight scene in the first Wolverine clip - via io9.
There’s a New Trailer For Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ that looks pretty fantastic. Say what you will about the movie, but the sound design for this trailer is fantastic.
The First Trailer for Ashton Kutcher’s ‘Jobs’ has been Released. After the disastrous first peek in January, I have to say this looks… pretty awesome. Of course, the movie will never live up to the expectations (and deep knowledge) of the Apple faithful, but, other than the fact all I can see is Ashton Kutcher, it looks pretty good.
Geeks of Doom say that the First Trailer For ‘The LEGO Movie’ Is Better Than You Might Expect, but I disagree, it looks well done, but terrible. What do you think?
13 minutes of this ‘Man Of Steel’ Publicity Special give a great deal of new info and footage from the next Superman movie. No huge spoilers, but if you want to be really surprised, you’ll want to leave this one alone. Great discussion of why certain decisions were made though, the “S”, the new suit design, and so on.
In less than two weeks the moviegoing world will behold Man of Steel, and we will finally see if the very enthusiastic hype that has been building around Zack Snyder’s much-anticipated reboot of the Superman movie franchise is worth believing.
I haven’t watched Parks and Recreation at all, but after hearing (and seeing) the 7 minute Animated Version Of Patton Oswalt’s ‘Star Wars’ Filibuster I think I may have to.
Last month a clip from the hit show Parks and Recreation was released, in which Patton Oswalt attempts a filibuster to prevent a city council vote. Producers of the show told the actor to ramble on about something, and so Oswalt decided to ad-lib his way through his character’s vision for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII.
The New Pacific Rim Trailer Is an Orgy of Everything You Love.
I think I just nerd-gasm’d again.
Jim pointed me to the Full-Length Trailer For ‘Riddick’ Now Online!
I think I just had a geek-gasm.
Veronica Mars Season 4: FBI Pilot
Veronica Mars Season 4: FBI Pilot is a great tease for what to expect for the now financed
Veronica Mars Movie project. This should be pretty cool.
Time travel in movies, a spoilerific chart for all permutations of time travel in movies.
The Joss Whedon’s take on Shakespeare’s play Much Ado About Nothing UK Trailer
Limited release in June.
A New Trailer For Pixar’s ‘Monsters University’ Released via Geeks of Doom.
There’s a new ‘Man Of Steel’ Trailer out for you this morning. Looking good.
Jim pointed out that Star Trek Into Darkness - Official Trailer #3 was out.
Oh yea.
The first trailer for Elysium is out. This is the next movie from the director of District 9. It stars Matt Damon and has a similar sci-fi look and feel to District 9.
Looks pretty awesome.
I’m not a fan of the “Epic Movie” type movies (or Date Movie, or Disaster Movie, or any of that crap). But now I’ve seen the ‘This Is The End’ Red-Band Trailer, I’m all over it.
A new red-band trailer for the film has appeared, and it shows a lot more stars, cameos, deaths, and other drug-induced antics. Check it out here below.
First Footage From Disney’s ‘Planes’ is out. Looks amusing. Anyone not predict massive spinoffs after “Cars”? :)
Speaking of awesome, here’s The Wolverine: International Trailer.
Great stuff on Fstoppers on Building The Animatronic Dinosaurs For Jurassic Park. Must watch videos!
There’s a ‘Kick-Ass 2’ Red-Band Trailer out. I have no opinion of it though, as it’s not available in my country.
Didn’t know Canada was so hard to get packets to MTV.
Update: Ok, someone’s got a Youtube link now.
Ok, yes, it’s “another” Star Trek: Into Darkness Trailer, but on man, I can’t wait for this. Almost all new footage in this trailer too.
I assume that it’s labelled as Female Super Hero Fan Film for legal reasons, however this fan film is something for the studios to pay attention to in terms making strong female superheros.
Kudos to Jim for the link.
Via Geeks of Doom comes a couple of ‘Ender’s Game’ Images.
Summit Entertainment has teased Ender’s Game fans with a few production photos and official stills in the past and with the film just a little under a year away from release, the marketing team is continuing to slowly churn out more promotional goodies.
Only one real image there, but still, awesome to see things moving forward with this project.
Weta’s FX reel shows why working on The Hobbit made Ian McKellen cry. Not because it’s so good and amazing (it is) but for making him act with a bunch of light stands.
Thanks Aryk for the link.
Finding Vivian Maier - Official Movie Trailer is out. If you haven’t heard of Vivian Maier and have an interest in photography, definitely check out the trailer, which gives you the story.
Can’t wait to check this out :)
This ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Super Bowl TV Spot Warps Into Awesome. Via Geeks of Doom.
Wow. I can’t wait for this.
Even though you can tell exactly how this movie will go, watching the Olympus Has Fallen Official Trailer #1 makes me really wanting March 22 to arrive. And possibly shoot something.
This is the first Clip of the new movie ‘jOBS’ and gives a first look at Kutcher and Gad’s roles.
Sorry but I don’t see anything but Ashton Kutcher acting here, I don’t see Steve Jobs (or frankly, Woz either).
I had no idea that the Evil Dead was being remade and got itself a green band trailer. Looks pretty sweet, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Those less squeamish will want to check out the Red Band Trailer:
Star Wars: Machete Order is a look at how to solve the issue of watching the full six Star Wars movies in an order that makes sense:
How can you ensure that a viewing keeps the Vader reveal a surprise, while introducing young Anakin before the end of Return of the Jedi?
Sounds like I need to spend a couple of weekends re-watching in both Alternative Order and Machete Order, to see which works best!
The new ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’ Trailer looks awesome, especially the last (or almost last) scene (with the chopper).
Star Trek Into Darkness hit the Apple Trailers site.
Only 5 months to go, only 5 months to go…
First Trailer For Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ via Geeks of Doom.
The only place I could find a working version of the Man of Steel Teaser Trailer 2 was on Facebook.
Gotta say it’s pretty awesome looking.
Doing nothing but linking to the GoD page because I’m so damn excited that the First ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Teaser Trailer has been Released](http://www.geeksofdoom.com/2012/12/06/watch-now-epic-first-star-trek-into-darkness-teaser-trailer-released/)!
Via Daring Fireball, answering the simple question of Which Bond Villain Plan Would Have Worked?
Apparently a Nine-Minute ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Prologue will Hit With ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ in IMAX 3D.
In case you needed more reasons to see The Hobbit. In IMAX.
Ok, I had forgotten about this one too, and man, World War Z looks good.
The world needs another fast zombie movie.
The actual trailer for Iron Man 3 is in one day, but you can watch the trailer for the trailer over at the Geeks of Doom. Here’s the Special Sneak Preview For The ‘Iron Man 3’ Launch Trailer.
A trailer for a trailer. Really?
When the actual trailer is out you can see it over at Apple.com/trailers.
Pretty fun video, assuming it actually ever happened: Unlock the 007 in you. You have 70 seconds!
Another great find by JWZ: True Skin. Amazing what people can do these days.
It’s an old movie (kinda), but I just came across this post of The Cabin in the Woods Explained — It’s a Giant Metaphor which really blew my mind. Note, the review is full of spoilers. Take my word and go watch the movie first, then go and read the review :)
Watching this movie is a life-changing experience. Not only is it entertaining, but it explains every other movie. Any time you ever noticed an inconsistency or witnessed a character making a stupid decision and thought “why on earth would they split up?” you now know the explanation. This movie fixes every problem in every film.
Definitely going to re-watch this over the weekend.
Not a big fan of the title, but the trailer for A Good Day to Die Hard is up and ready to tease you for 2013.
Check out The First Trailer For ‘The Lone Ranger’ Starring Johnny Depp & Armie Hammer. Looks pretty hard-core.
Geeks of Doom has a video of an Alternate Opening For ‘The Avengers’
The alternate intro debuted on Yahoo, and it shows New York City having just survived Loki’s attack. The intro almost mirrors the aftermath of 9/11, with glimpses of police officers and soldiers helping the injured. The only superheroes that make it into this alternate cut are Hulk, who only gets a quick glimpse, and Captain America, who is appears in the corner of the clip. But that’s what I like most about this clip, is that the real heroes are out there doing the best to protect us from any threat and they will not stand down. It also shows that superheroes can be just as vulnerable as humans.
The Man With The Iron Fists Red Band Trailer #2. Looks like another awesome Kung-Fu movie.
Hat tip, Geeks of Doom.
Got to say that Seven Psychopaths looks epic.
The premise is pretty simple: three people working in the dog kidnapping business (Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, and Christopher Walken) unwittingly take a dog that belongs to an emotionally unstable mob boss (Woody Harrelson). From there it is escaping the mob, trying to survive, and figuring out how to make a profit from all of this.
Geeks of Doom has the Trailer For Dan Bradley’s Remake Of ‘Red Dawn’.
Not sure if I like the marines thing, but looks interesting.
WOLVERINES
007 - The Business of Bond is an awesome interactive infographic type thing all about the James Bond movies. Hat tip Gruber.
The First ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer Has Landed, via Geeks of Doom
I saw this attached to The Dark Knight last night, not a lot in there to see, but still a nice look at what’s coming next year.
December 14th can’t come soon enough after looking at ‘The Scroll’ From ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.
Sweet! Check Out Bryan Singer’s Scifi Web Series.
X-Men director Bryan Singer is cooking up something kinda groundbreaking: a sprawling, science fiction epic series made for the Internet. Why the Internet? Because it’s about a future where humans are hardwired to the ‘Net.
Count me in to hardwired to the net. Other than the bad things of course :)
Watch Joseph Gordon-Levitt In The Trailer For ‘Premium Rush’. I’ll see this if for nothing other than the cool map-zoom-in thingy that they were doing.
Movie Review: Snow White and The Huntsman via Geeks of Doom.
Let’s call this movie what it really is: Bella and Thor’s Magical Middle-Earth Adventure. It’s not an altogether unworthy effort though, there are some fantastic visual effects and a terrific performance by Theron that make this movie worth watching. Overall Snow White and the Huntsmen is a much better revisionist fairytale than Mirror, Mirror (that other Snow White movie), Red Riding Hood, or Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.
I’m not sure if that’s convincing enough for me to shell out $11 for a ticket and $15 for pop and popcorn though.
Check Out The Trailer For The Cyberpunk Short Film ‘Reboot’ via Geeks of Doom.
Set within a dystopian world that is a collision between technology and humanity, “Reboot” touches upon many of the current social and political concerns that arise from becoming more and more intertwined with the virtual. In contemporary Los Angeles, a young female hacker (Stat) awakens from unconsciousness to find an iPhone glued to her hand and a mysterious countdown ticking away on the display. Suffering from head trauma, and with little recollection of who she is or what is happening, Stat races against time to figure out what the code means, and what unknown event the pending zero-hour will bring.
It’s a short film, and I could probably freeze frame and analyse the “comptuer code” and pick out how it’s completely wrong to have a dir command on a macbook which as you know is a unix based operating system, but hey, I’m a sucker for anything cyberpunk :)
The film’s website is here.
At least 3D conversions of animated shows are way better than conversions of live action ones…. therefor I’m not as scared about the Finding Nemo in 3D that’s going to be released.
Yeah it’s another low-rent Jaws rip-off, only this time the makers of the movie mashed that hoary concept up with a rip on the unfathomably popular MTV show Jersey Shore. But in the world of Jersey Shore Shark Attack the very vacuous muscleheads and party gals we supposed intellectual superiors take great pleasure in mocking whenever their names are mentioned - or at least their SyFy counterparts - are all that can save many Garden State vacationers from becoming gory bits of chunkhead chum. Plus their version of Snooki is way hotter than the real thing. That alone might make this movie worth a single watch.
Avengers Computer UI from one of the artists that worked on the film.
This is just an image dump of marvel approved stills and screenshots of my work on the film. I’ll do a proper post soon - this is a fraction of the work - But I had the distinct pleasure of working with Cantina Creative, leading the design of the glass screens for the Helicarier in the Avengers. I also led the design and animation of the all new and upgraded Mark VII Hud.

The Official teaser trailer for “Skyfall” is out.
Damn, yet another movie to be excited about. Also 007.com.
It aired on TV the other night, now online: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (3D) - 4 MINUTE SUPER PREVIEW. Can’t wait.
How Pixar almost deleted Toy Story 2.
Taken from the Studio Stories series included on the Blu-ray versions of Toy Story 1 & 2, here’s a short story about how Toy Story 2 was almost erased before the film could be rendered for theaters.
“Oops”.
Would not want to be in charge of IT for Pixar.
The Dark Knight Rises - Official Trailer #3. Have I mentioned how excited I am for this movie?
A Prometheus Extended International Trailer has been released.
Have I said how excited I am for this movie?
Found this post with Rear Window stitched together into a single scene on Google+:
This is amazing. An artist type named Jeff Desom “dissected” Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 thriller “Rear Window” into a single scene that plays out in chronological order.
It’s really hard to describe, think stitching a panorama from an entire movie…. kinda. Just check out the video. It’s really amazing, even more so if you’re a fan of the movie (and you should be, it’s awesome).
Very cool, the remake of Total Recall (1990) has hit the web in the form of a teaser for the trailer to be released this Sunday. You can view the Total Recall Trailer Teaser embedded below.
Iron Sky Sneak Peek #13 has the first 4 minutes of the movie.
I’m going to enjoy the hell out of this one!
The 9 Reasons The Hunger Games Is the New Harry Potter from Forever Geek makes a compelling argument on why I should go to see this when it comes out.
Men In Black 3 3D Official Trailer #2:
Nothing much to say but “can’t wait”.
What if ‘The Phantom Menace’ Was Good? from Forever Geek. Well worth the 12 minute watch.
‘John Carter’ Fan Trailer Sells The Movie Better Than The Official Trailers. Have to say I agree, until I saw this I didn’t care in the least about this movie, though never having read the book probably has something to do with that. The movie gives you an idea of what’s going on and most importantly, connects the character to earth in a way that makes you actually give a crap :)
‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ Full Trailer is out and ready. The CGI in the first couple of shots looked a bit…. “CGI,” but it’s got a different attitude, and really, looks like spiderman. Can’t wait!
Kudos to go forgetfoo for the link of the New Prometheus Trailer. I so want it to be as awesome as it looks like it will be.
I know the damn kids out there won’t care, but the fact that Rogue Synapse Released ‘The Last Starfighter’ PC Game For Free Download made my day. I still love the movie even though the special effects haven’t held up at all over the years. I still wish I could join the Starfighters…
The plot of The Last Starfighter revolved around a space-set first-person shooter arcade game used to recruit warriors from all over the galaxy for a real interstellar war. The graphics for Rogue Synapse’s Starfighter back in 2006 are based on those of the film’s and the game’s creators have even gone to great lengths to replicate the feel of an authentic 1980s arcade game, right down to the fonts. An 8-bit version of the film’s main title theme composed by Craig Safan and actual Starfighter game audio from the film enhance this amazing retro experience.
You can download the game for free here.
Fun post outlining what people would play what parts if Star Wars Episode IV were made today.
Has to be the coolest mashup I've seen so far: 'Wall-E' Meets Ridley Scott in 'WALL-ETHEUS'.
I'm a bit worried about the upcoming Lucas movie Red Tails. I really want a kick ass World War II flying movie. I really do. I really hope that Lucas doesn't go all Episode 1 on it, or make it look too CGI (some of the scenes in the trailer scream "this is done on a big render farm!". I'm also worried that it'll be more about race relations that absolutely kick ass flying scenes.
This trailer helped with my worry, I cannot wait to see this movie.
The just released Prometheus trailer looks pretty amazing.
You can also grab it in higher def from the apple trailers page.
Ok, I'm getting sick and tired of the whole "lets remake everything from the 80s" trend in movies lately, but the New '21 Jumpstreet' Trailer looks pretty damn funny. Not smart-funny mind you, but funny-funny.
I don't expect anything more than 2 hours of shit blowing up based on the First Teaser Trailer for 'The Expendables 2′. I plan to enjoy the heck out of it too :)
Watch Now: First Trailer for 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation'. Via Geeks of Doom.
It's now over 5 months away, but the Men in Black 3 trailer was just released.
A bit of a mashup of Avatar and Star Wars Episode 1 and 2.... but still, the Second 'John Carter' Trailer is online.
This is How You Do a Video Game Movie via ForeverGeek.
I would watch the crap out of an 8 hour movie that follows the Half Life 1 story.
First images from Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus', a new movie in the Alien mythology.
OMG the Red Band Trailer For Seann William Scott Hockey Comedy 'GOON' looks awesome.
Watch The Trailer For Snow White Film 'Mirror, Mirror' over at Geeks of Doom.
Some awesome photos and story from the set of the sail barge scene from Star Wars ROTJ.
It might be just nostalgia, but the 'American Pie 4′ trailers look damn funny.
Very cool movie trailer for a movie called Chronicle which gives a more realistic view of what would happen if "normal" people got superpowers. Really looking forward to this :)
The Avengers trailer is finally here. Kudos to Eldon for sharing this link over on Facebook. I'm posting this before I watch the trailer, but I am going to go with the guess that it is going to be awesome.
Here's another (though looks like there's a different guy playing the hulk, so not sure what's going on with that).
Speaking of movies, check out this 4 Minute Trailer for David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'. If you've seen the original, this one looks fairly true to the tone and story, and I think the Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara look great as the main characters.
Very cool Shot-By-Shot Deconstruction Of The Chase Sequence From 'The Dark Knight' done by a filmmaker with a great knowledge of visual design for film and editing.
Nice find on /Film - The Visual Effects of 'Game of Thrones'. Funnily enough a lot of the effects that I thought were practical (ie: snow on the bank in front of the horses) was all CGI. Amazing example of what you can do with computers these days....
Another live action Half Live video: Escape From City 17 - Part Two. On the heals of Portal: No Escape this is great news.
Portal: No Escape is a pretty awesome 6 minute long live action portal movie.
Looks like Lucas is at it again. Here's a link to the source story.
Geeks of doom has a 12 minute compilation of Every Death Sequence From All Four 'Final Destination' Films.
Another H&K movie? 'A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas' Theatrical Trailer. Count me in.
Two nice posts this morning, first is Geeks of Doom with a First Official Look: Anne Hathaway As Catwoman In 'The Dark Knight Rises' and the second is Forever Geek with a First look of Henry Cavill as Superman.
Geeks of Doom has a New 'Apollo 18′ One Sheet Will Leave You Screaming. Trailer and poster. Looks nifty, not sure if the footage will be all in the Blair Witch style or not, but it's definitely a cool premise.
It's really short, but the Final Scene Of 'Captain America: The First Avenger' With 'Avengers' Teaser is required watching for geeky people everywhere.
Ok so I didn't realize this was the "battleship the game made as a movie" movie called Battleship, but I have to admit that it looks pretty friggin' awesome. Check the First Trailer For Peter Berg's 'Battleship' at Geeks of Doom.
Cool video of where there are some pretty big spacial awareness errors in the movie The Shining.
Geeks of Doom pointed me to the First Look: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' Teaser Trailer. Interesting reboot for sure.
Sadly not a lot of actual footage, but it is a Dark Knight Rises - Teaser Trailer, so don't complain. Can't wait for this one!
Double-dose from Geeks of doom! First up is the First Trailer For Disney's 'John Carter' (based on "A Princess of Mars") and second is The Thing.
Forever Geek has shots from Entertainment Weeklys story on the New Spider-Man movie. Glad they are going back to the mechanical webshooters.
Have to give credit where credit is due..... The first trailer I saw for A Game of Shadows (Sherlock Holmes 2) was over at forgetfoo.com.
Waiting for the extended version of the blu-ray to re-buy the Lord of the Rings trilogy again? Check out the Blu-ray Review over at Geeks of Doom to see how awesome it is or isn't.
If you liked the "Plot Device" movie posted a couple of days ago, you should check out the Behind the Scenes video. Sure it's a big ad for the magic bullet software, but it's still pretty cool to see how they did things.
Via twitter found the movie Plot Device on Vimeo. Pretty awesome and inventive storytelling!
(PS: Make sure you stay for after the credits!)
All I can say is oh wow. Looks like the last of the movies is going to be one hell of a ride. Kudos geeks of doom.
Full Trailer For 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'. Looks way better than the last one, even with the really creepy CGI monkeys.
io9 has an Insanely Detailed Synopsis of Transformers 3. Major spoilers, avoid if you want to be surprised in July.
Cool look from the guys at IO9 about the 15 minutes of 3D Transformers footage seen with Michael Bay and James Cameron. No new visuals or video sadly, but good discussion and description.
Only 1:12 long, but you can check out the teaser for the (well, 'my' anyway) much beloved childrens book series "Tintin": First Teaser Trailer For Steven Spielberg's 'The Adventures Of Tintin'.
Cool concept video explaining the movie Inception with nothing but the OS/X Finder: INCEPTION_FOLDER.
Dammit, I know Lucus is milking this thing to death, but I'm sure I'll keep on buying it...
'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes' Trailer Released. Looks good too, hope that they go all the way with it, and don't leave some ambiguous "maybe the humans can win" type ending.
I'm not convinced it won't be horrible, but I'll still go and see it in the theater after Aryk sent me the link to Watch Four Minutes of 'Green Lantern'.
Aryk sent me the link for Captain America: The First Avenger's Trailer. Wow, pretty awesome stuff.
Peejay sent me the link to the Hobo with a Shotgun Trailer. Lets say the trailer is NSFW due to violence, and at the same time awesome for the violence. Got a bit of a Death Wish feel to it.
Your Highness - Restricted Trailer. Extra bonus scene is Natalie Portman going to take a dip. Hey, just sayin'....
I'm not sure if the The Art Of Flight Trailer on Devour.com is a photographer oriented trailer, adventure sports, or just a disguise for selling stuff from best buy, but wow, that looks strong epic. Definitely watch the high def version.
Thanks Aryk for pointing me to the first trailer for X-Men: First Class. Other than the subtle "90210" vibe, I'm digging it.
Transformers 'Dark of The Moon' Super Bowl Trailer. In a word. Wow.
The full Paul movie trailer is out, and it looks good. Hard to go wrong with a funny alien creature and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
Cool 7 minute video on Vimeo on The Making of Tron: Legacy. Amazing what they can do these days....
PeeJay pointed me over to this teaser trailer for Kevin Smith's Red State. I honestly have no idea what's in the trailer, but I love KS and have followed him on his podcast SmodCast for ages, and can't wait to see this movie!
Any movie with a name like "Source Code" I have to watch. Sadly the trailer shows it doesn't have anything to do with actual source code, but the movie looks interesting nonetheless.
Aryk pointed me to the "The Green Lantern" Theatrical Trailer. Definitely going to be interesting!
Movies: Cowboys & Aliens (2011) including HD links.
Personal editorial: "OMFG Wow"
Wow, this is awesome.... a Fake Arnold sings in 'Commando, the Musical'. I'd watch that.
F Stoppers has some pretty epic Transformers 3 Behind The Scenes footage. Love the grin on the cameraman's face at the start as he's running behind the guys shooting... looks like he's having a blast!
Awesome trailer for the new True Grit, starring Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin, and Matt Damon. Big props for using Johnny Cash in the trailer soundtrack!
Another link from Scott over at My Extra Life - Star Wars vs Star Trek: Most Epic Fake Movie Ever. I'd totally pay to see this on the big screen.
When the original trilogy was re-released in the late 90's with updated graphics I resented the old farts saying "I already saw them when they were first released", but now after seeing that the Star Wars saga will return to theatres in 3D in 2012, I'm feeling the same way.
"There are few movies that lend themselves more perfectly to 3D; from the Death Star trench run to the Tatooine Podrace, the Star Wars Saga has always delivered an entertainment experience that is completely immersive," the studio said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.
First of all, 3D up-conversions suck, I thought we figured out with The Last Airbender and Clash of the Titans that slapping 3D on after was a Bad Idea. Secondly, doesn't Lucas have enough money yet? This'll be the 3rd or 10th re-re-re-re-re-release of the movies. I mean, come on... Question is will I end up having to go see it if for nothing more than to see Star Wars on the big screen one last time.
Netflix has finally launched in Canada, and the iPhone in Canada guys have a review.
Personally I'm more interested in the streaming capabilities to the PS3 (seem to be there) and an increased selection (right now the .ca selection is pretty limited). With the new TV season upon us, having all the new shows available in HD, streaming instantly for a mere $7.99 a month (well worth the torrent searching and hard drive space my current methods use) is a big appeal. Sadly right now none of the good new TV shows (or hell, old TV shows) are available up here in the great white north :(
yes, it's only a fan-trailer, but watching it it almost makes me want to watch a real Pokémon Apokélypse movie.
If this Transformers Inspired Short Film does offer some proof that we're in the midst of an independant filmmaker revolution I'm not sure what is. Off the shelf software, off the shelf hardware, and a pretty awesome film, created by a guy in Russia, seen by (as of now) 905,000 people. Great quality and a cool concept as well.
I disagree with the /film guys, I think the Tangled Double Rainbow parody is pretty funny.
Fantastic re-imaginings of the posters for the Star Wars movies - Star Wars Prints by Andy Helms. Anyone thinking of my birthday yet? It's not too late for you to get me a set of these for my wall....
Awesome looking trailer: INEBRIATION (Inception Parody/Spoof):
Via @milesforrest.
Pretty awesome short movie: Your Lucky Day. Thanks to Daring Fireball for the link. NSFW language and some brief boobies if you're concerned about that.
Cool ad/marketing campaign over on the YouTubeExpendables's Channel. Note: auto-plays for reasons that will become apparent soon enough.
Awesome video of a Big Fan Asks Joss Whedon Who His Favorite Actor Is. From my buddy @jtstrocel.
There's the Thor Comic Con Trailer out online. Looks interesting for sure....
I know nothing about the content, but I ahve to say that the Trailer for Zack Snyder's 'Sucker Punch' looks amazing, like a legion of special effects teams all puked on film at the same time. Anyone know the origins of this at all? Based on a comic book or novel or LSD induced dream?
Update: Better trailer link. Thanks Aryk.
A unique look at the new movie with Jack Sparrow's Comic-Con Announcement. Sadly nothing "real", but still worth a watch.
There's a second Trailer for Tron Legacy. Woo! Can't wait for this one to show up in the theater! :)
Outside of even the cover art, the Jedi Junkies Documentary looks pretty interesting. Also the video has a ton of Slave Leias in it, so it's automatically awesome :)
Maybe soon Canadians will have one less thing to bitch about when they say "[service] is great, so I've heard, but of course it's not available up here". At least, if the rumors from the Globe and Mail are true and that Netflix will cross border to Canada this year. If so it'll be down to iTunes music not being the same, stupid Daily Show and Colbert links not working and the stupid site not redirecting you to the proper video on the Canadian site, Hulu, and others....
Course, who uses physical media to get their TV entertainment these days still?
There's a trailer for The Social Network, all about Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg. Great use of music as well.
I'm OK with buying the Star Wars trilogy on VHS, re-buying the 'remastered' series, then re-re-buying it when the 'updates' was released, then again when they were released on DVD, and I'm even ok with it once more when it's coming out on BluRay. However, I refuse, refuse refuse to buy anything to do with another bad 3D Re-Release rumored to be "Still Coming".
Movie Review: The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Not mine, I wouldn't watch it, but thanks to the Geeks of Doom for watching it so you don't have to.
Bella spent the first movie swooning over Edward. After he left in New Moon, she started to get close to Jacob. In Eclipse, she realizes she has feelings for both and is left to agonize over which one would be better for her in the long run.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has the first full trailer online.
Finally! Red-band Predators trailer brings wholesale violence, spine-ripping.
Sweeeet.
Still due in 2011, but you can see The Green Hornet Movie Trailer as well as the first minute of footage while you wait.
kotaku.com has a trailer for a new Mortal Combat re-imagining, featuring Jeri Ryan. They also have an update with some more details about what this is all about.
Slashfilm writes about a war film entirely done inside a tank. Very cool idea.
The whole movie takes place inside a tank, from the perspective of the soliders inside the cramped quarters, as they attempt to rescue and free a paratrooper squad that is besieged by Syrian troops. Maoz wrote the film based on his own experience in the 1982 war with Lebanon.
Trailer is embedded in the slashfilm link.
The description from Daring Fireball about this Review of Sex and the City 2 by Someone Who Doesn't Know Anything About It really makes me understand (a tiny bit) WTH people watch this sex in the city thing. Still not gonna watch it though.
I never read the Scott Pilgrim comics, so when the movie was announced I was kinda "meh" on it, but Darren pointed me to the Official Trailer over on Facebook, I gotta say it's on my radar big time. LOL @ "the other L Word".
Sounds like the official Star Wars Blu-Ray Release is Coming Soon along with new of maybe a post-ROTJ animated series. Not so sure about the animated series, but the original series in Blu-Ray is a must buy.
Great news.... the project to re-do Star Wars in 15 second chunks has been completed. Looking at some of the examples and the 5 minute trailer, the quality ranges from awesome to awesome (in the good and bad spectrums of awesome). Wonder if it'd be possible to watch this like a real movie or if that'd make your head asplode?
Remember that awesome clown heist vignette all-in-one-shot thing from last year called "Carousel". It was done to advertise for Philips TV... anyway, this year they did it again, calling the new project
Parallel Lines, where there are 5 different movies, all completely different, but with the same lines of dialog.
IO9 collects a list of great scenes from movies that are cursed with being a bad movie with one epic scene. Great place to check out the clips if nothing else.
A new A-Team trailer. It still looks horrible, but man I still want to see it :)
Before you watch the Predators Trailer embedded below, make sure you hit the '720p' setting, and turn off the lights, and turn up the headphones. I'm really looking forward to this one :)
Yahoo has the Robin Hood (2010) trailer. Looks like another must-see.... Ridley Scott FTW it looks like.
As promised the official Tron Legacy Trailer has been posted. The youtube embed goes to 1080p and it runs for a glorious 2:13.
Update: Official site link with 1080 downloadable goodness.
Another trailer for the new Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie.
So it's a remake of a classic movie from the 80's, with Jackie Chan, and it's all about Kung Fu (mentioned several times in the trailer), but it's still called The Karate Kid. And this is the second trailer. I'll see it, but I'm going to hate myself for it.
Awesome, the 'Kick-Ass' Red Band Trailer #2 is out. New footage, definitely NSFW, man I can't wait for this movie!
Aryk pointed me to the Latest Airbender Trailer which I hear looks awesome.
IO9 has collected The Worst Superhero Movies Of All Time so you don't have to. Some real stinkers in there...
IO9 has a teaser trailer for The Last Airbender. Looks pretty sweet!
*squeels like a little girl* OMG there's a new... *cough*. I mean Awesome, there's a new Kick-Ass International Trailer that's out.
Thanks Aryk!
My internet buddy @jtstrocel pointed me to the Rotten Tomatoes list of 25 Movies So Bad They're Unmissable.
Watch: 'Avatar: Creating The World Of Pandora' over at Geeks of doom to get a cool look at some behind the scenes views of the tech used in the movie.
Passed on from S is this ROFLrazzi pic of David Tennant looking all nerdy. Enjoy ladies....
Geeks of Doom has an excellent set of 6 Guidelines The Next 'Spider-Man' Film Needs To Follow. This is related to the news that Spider-man 4 has been cancelled and the series is getting a reboot sans Tobey and Kirsten.
Another great cracked.com article on 6 Insane Fan Theories That Actually Make Great Movies Better. Stuff in there ranges from fairly reasonable to completely bonkers, within the context of the movies in question of course.
A second trailer for the movie Kick Ass has surfaced. This isn't the red-band trailer like they had for Hit Girl, but it's got a lot of content and is definitely not a "teaser". So looking forward for this one!
I will not deny that the new A-Team Trailer looks damn fun!
Update: If you didn't catch it, bummer, it's down now. Discussion.
It's re-appeared here.
Great little video called Batman is Confused, pointing out some of the.... minor plot holes in The Dark Knight.
The trailer for Cop Out, the great Kevin Smith's latest project, is out.
OK, not for kids for both content and language, but if you've been paying any attention at all to the Kick-Ass movie, you'll want to check out the Hit Girl trailer. Not only does it validate what I've been hearing about it not compromising on either violence or language, but the action they show is (pardon me for saying this) completely Kick-Ass. April can't come soon enough.
Just heard about, and watched, the Ridley Scott Robin Hood trailer. I hadn't heard about this, but it looks good, though brutal and realistic a-la Gladiator. Russell Crowe looks good, but they'll have a hard time getting a better Sheriff of Nottingham than Alan Rickman!
Hat tip to Geeks of Doom.
Via reddit comes a link to the Guardian review of Avatar. Honestly... regardless of whatever types of reviews come out for Avatar I'm going to see it for the big-screen spectacle and because James Cameron has had far more winners than losers in the last 25 years.
Best Article... has a cool list of the Most Unfairly Overlooked Movies Of The Decade. Some good ones in there I've seen, some I plan to see soon.
Darren found this one, it's called Ataque de Pánico! (Panic Attack!) and it's pretty awesome. Be interesting to find out what it cost to make or what the back story is. Cool to see what you can do on a small (I assume anyway) budget. Also http://www.aparato.tv.
Thanks Aryk for this one.... First of all, I didn't know that there were now teaser posters, but here is the teaser poster for Iron Man 2. Love the first comment.
I didn't expect it to be good, but the The Twilight Saga: New Moon review by Roger Ebert leaves no question as to the horribleness of this movie, and has some great lines in it.
The characters in this movie should be arrested for loitering with intent to moan. Never have teenagers been in greater need of a jump-start. Granted some of them are more than 100 years old, but still: their charisma is by Madame Tussaud.

Gizmodo, and ILM, have confirmed that R2-D2 has been Discovered In Star Trek. With high rez screen capture goodness.
Fantastic looking and funny animated short called Pigeon: Impossible, 5 years in the making.
I feel bad for not posting this yet. The comic "Kick-Ass" sucked me right in, and I'm not a comic guy at all, so I'm really excited to see that the Kick-Ass Teaser Trailer looks like it'll live up to the source material, and by all accounts, the movie doesn't compromise on the violence, swearing, and bloodshed. Also check out the movie poster.
WWTDD has links to the new Avatar trailer this time put out with consent, so you can view it :)
Just saw the Edge of Darkness Movie Trailer, which has a look a lot like Taken but with Mel Gibson instead of Liam Neeson. Looks pretty awesome.
Very cool fan made trailer for Star Wars Death Troopers. It's star wars with zombies, how could it miss?! I recommend only watching the first trailer on the page though, it seems the best.
Remember the Star Wars Uncut project, where people claimed 15 seconds of Episode IV to re-shoot? Well, slashdot says that the trailer is now complete. There are still a lot of scenes left, but it's still a very cool project and it's nice to see progress being made.
My only complaint from the trailer is that some people seemed to do it with way more seriousness / campyness than others. I'd rather see less animation and stop motion and more poeple "trying" instead of being stupid (the 'aren't you a little short for a storm trooper' scene in particular). Still, it's a varied showing of talent, which is exactly what was required!
Slashfilm did a twitter poll and came up with great list from What Is Your Favorite Movie Scene? Great choice for the embedded clip too. If you wanted a good 'list of movies to get and watch', this is a great start.
Pretty awesome: Jackie Earle Haley In 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' Teaser Trailer. If you're into that sort of thing.
Just a reminder that the premier of fan film Doctor Who -Victimsight is tonight, both live (if you're in the Fraser Valley region, check out the Facebook fan page for those details if you are in the Fraser Valley area in BC, or on the website if you're not.
My good buddy Eldon has been working on this film for a while now, make sure you give him some support, eh?
Holy crap! Check out this Halo 3: ODST Live-Action Trailer! Looks great, wish it was a real movie, that's something I'd be able to get behind :)
Screenhead has a nice wrapup of their Top 10 forgotten and underrated Sci-fi movies.
I agree with the guys from work who pointed me to Mario Kart: The Movie - I'd totally watch that!
The Wolfman Trailer is up and over at Yahoo. This is the one with Benico Del Toro that had some pretty awesome screenshots of the makeup last year or so.
James Cameron's Avatar finally has a trailer. Looks pretty awesome, though no idea what it's about, or what's going on in the trailer :)
I have had no exposure to this movie, but the Legion red bad (so it has bad words and grossness) looks epically awesome.
Another list of The 100 Greatest Sci-Fi Movies. Not sure if I agree 100% with the order, but they did hit the high points....
What more needs to be said? Iron Man 2 Comic-Con Trailer has Leaked! Looks awesome, can't wait! looking forward to the official trailer though.
According to Yahoo Paramount won't show critics `G.I. Joe' which people seem to be reading in to mean that it sucks.
"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" opens Friday, but Paramount Pictures isn't screening the blockbuster for critics beforehand. Only a select few writers from blogs and movie Web sites have seen it for review -- such as Harry Knowles, the self-professed "Head Geek" from Ain't It Cool News -- and their opinions have been mostly positive.
That said, I'm still going to see it Friday or Saturday :)
A visualization of the various movie numbers of Michael Bay of Transformers, The Rock, and so on movies.
The title says: 'TRON Legacy: Grid VFX Concept Test' Comic-Con Movie Teaser Trailer, and I'm not sure if this is just a concept, a technical demo, related to Tron 2 or not, or what. What I do know is that it looks mindblowingly awesome!
As the kids say these days, the this, but that's just a blurry trailer at 720p :)
Trailer looks good, I'm not sure about Johnny Depp, but after his last few performances, I'm sure he'll be awesome. Mia Wasikowska (say that 10 times fast), who I've never seen in anything, looks great as Alice, and the rest of the environment and it's 3D computer generated goodness looks good, as expected, as well.
2012: It's a Disaster!!! is a fan video for the upcoming 2012 movie which really boils it down to it's essence :) (thanks Darren)
Great review of Transformers 2 by my buddy over at Reel Criticism. My favorite line:
With all the time this movie spends dry humping Megan Fox on screen I sure hope it plans to keep in touch.
Seems that Transformers 2 is not getting some of the critical acclaim it was hoping... Movieline.com has collected The 9 Most Scathing Critical Responses to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Below is the one that's my favorite:
6. “Fallen indulges Bay’s excesses well past the point of reason to deliver the male teenage cinematic equivalent of snorting cocaine off a hooker’s ass.” — Garth Franklin, Dark Horizons
The Last Airbender Teaser Trailer, from M. Knight.... interesting looking, I think I'd want to hear a bit more about it though. We've got until next year to worry about it though :)
Youtube has the 2012 Full Trailer in 720p. Looks good if you like big asplosions and things breaking.
Geeks of Doom have a Teaser Trailer For ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Prequel Movie ‘The Plan’. Sadly very light on any actual "tease".
Really neat article with sound on ‘Up' character design, talking about the evolution of the characters from early sketches to fully realized 3D models.
BTW Up == Fantastic. Must see.
Saw on /Film that Disney is going to Remake Flight of the Navigator. Dear Disney, why why why must you destroy all of my fond childhood memories? What was wrong with the movie anyway? A few cheese effects for the spaceship flying, and the puppetry for the aliens was a bit lacking, but really, is casting the Olsen twins and making everything CGI (or whatever they do when they remake it and turn it into an abomination) going to make it better? I think not. Glad I have a .avi copy for my personal archives of "good old movies".
This weeks SNL had a Weekend Update related to Star Trek. Not viewable from Canada those bastards :( Use of Tor or Hotspot Shield or similar is recommended for those not living in the US. Great stuff, and a great little surprise towards the end :)

Great list anyway... Primer definitely deserves it's spot!
YouTube has "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Superbowl Spot.
Uhm.
Wow.
!!
With the super bowl happening tomorrow, all the big movie trailers are appearing. Most interesting for me is this World Exclusive: The G.I. Joe Super Bowl Spot! I'm undecided whether this makes the movie look 100% awesome or 80% sucky. Guess we'll see what happens in august :)
Darren passed along a page saying that there will be The A-Team film directed by Ridley Scott to hit cinemas in 2010.... why why why must they destroy my childhood memories of awesome action? GI Joe, A-Team..... when will it stop!?
Slash Film has some of the Tintin Cast Revealed. Jamie Bell (or Griffin from Jumper) is Tintin, Simon Pegg is one of the Thompson Twins, Daniel Craig as Red Rackham (really?) and the plot will be a combination of Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure. Very cool, I'm really excited for this, and hope they are going to do it properly (and not crush another one of my whimsical childhood adventure stories) so I'll let it slide that the release date is sometime in 2011.

The grey-haired duo of director Steven Spielberg and writer/producer George Lucas find themselves traveling the route so many baseball players (and directors, ahem, Michael Bay) find themselves on today: injecting superhuman strength into their bodies to produce outrageous results.

Ever get confused about whose frakking who and who is whose kid and who is a cylon or not? The IO9 BSG Frak Tree has all the answers!
Quantum of Solace - Trailer 2 is up and going in SD and HD. Another trailer that makes me really want to see this movie :)
Your political opinions, or those on Michael Moore aside, the fact remains that his Slacker Uprising has been released online for free in streaming, mpeg4, xvid, and torrent links (for the price of an email address of course).
Looks like he's taken a page from the NiN playbook and is offering the DVD for sale as well (though for free).
Darren threw over a link to IO9 where they have some Frightening New Footage from The Day The Earth Stood Still. Looks very very cool.
Kevin Smith has the Zack and Miri Make a Poster and the Toronto Film Fest reaction over on his blog. I'm looking forward to this....
Why oh why would you need a Highlander Remake? Really, is it that old a movie that it needs a reboot?
Askmen.com has the "red band" (read: restricted, read: lots of nasty f-words) trailer up. For those who don't know, Zach and Miri Make A Porno is the latest from Kevin Smith and I'm really looking forward too it. Looks like an awesome cast too.
Pimping out a buddy's Dr. Who fan flick who just got a trailer out on the net: Doctor Who ::Victimsight. Cool stuff, check it out.
New characters from the latest Star Trek movie have been revealed thanks to Comic-Con. SlashFilm has the details on Star Trek: Sulu, Scotty, McCoy and Chekov Revealed!. Make sure you click through for the high-res update.
Another one from comic-con... X-Men Origins: Wolverine Leaked Comic Con Footage I. Woo!
The trailer that had the collective geek world tight in the pants: TR2N ComicCon 2008 teaser (tweaked). What do I have to do to get a better / full version dammit!?
Looks pretty awesome though, that I can agree :) Thanks Dave.
Slashfilm has the Caprica Trailer online (from scifi.com). It's a bit odd though... definitely not what I expected, still, BSG is out for another year (ish?) so I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to offer in Caprica.
IO9 has a teaser of Terminator Salvation the T4 movie to be released next summer.
Because I enjoy torturing my friends with information about movies they still can't see for (*sigh*) over 10 days, I presnt /Film's 10 Reasons Why I Loved The Dark Knight.
Geeks of Doom has a pointer to the First Five Minutes Of ‘The Dark Knight’. I'm actually going to avoid this (if I can bear it) and wait to see the whole thing in one shot on the 18th.... 14 days away (ugh.... maybe I can't wait that long!)
Digg has links to the First 'Quantum of Solace' Trailer, along with HD Links in the comments. I'm not sure if it's a localization thing (isn't the internet supposed to be universal?) but I couldn't see anything on the main site, so I used the links in the digg story.
For direct links to HD, you want the following (thanks to hoSSo for posting them):

Update: Just watched it..... OMFG Best looking movie ever..... where's my time machine to get me to November 7th right f-n now!!
This /Film post has some information on Luc Besson's newest movie, but really, all I care about is the video from District B13 at the bottom :) What a great chase scene!
Starship Troopers 3: Marauder Movie Trailer? Really? Argh.... please, the first one was awesome, the second was crap, I can only expect this one to be utter crap. Via /film. And is it just me or did they reuse a bunch of effects from the first and second movies?
Found a Wanted featurette which looks very cool, makes me want to see the movie (and find the comic too)!
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor Teaser Trailer on /Film. Looks cool, though almost a bit too mystical-ish for me. The first 2 mummy movies were of course mystical, with the whole mummy-coming-to-life thing of course, and they worked well, so we'll see how Brendan Fraser does this time.
I just hope that this re-treatment of my childhood memories won't be Jar-Jar'ed up like Episode 1...
A new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has been released.
You can watch the first 7 minutes of SPEED RACER on Yahoo! Movies (including HD links).
SlashFilm has Kung Fu Panda Movie Trailer #2.... looks a bit more amusing this time, maybe something I'd go see on a lazy Saturday.
SlashFilm points out that there are Three Minutes of Speed Racer available online.
Saw last night that there is a new Incredible Hulk trailer out. I wasn't all that interested or excited about this movie, however this trailer makes me feel slightly less "meh" towards it. Edward Norton may just be able to do it as Bruce Banner....
The Final Cylon Will Be Revealed Now! Or so they say anyway. Interesting read for sure:
As mentioned before Greek religion has their twelve Gods of Olympus that coincide with the mythology of the Romans, Egyptians, and Norse people. Then there is also the “Chariots of the Gods“ written by Erich von Dniken which talks about there being twelve planets which are governed by twelve gods. Last but not least there are twelve Cylon models of which 11 we know about and one that is not known to at all.
Another slashfilm post..... No New Dark Knight Trailer Until… Sunday?! Bootleg Now Online! Similar but not the same as the one from the previous side-by-side post.... love the bit at the end about the car.
New Hancock Movie Trailer from American Idol. This one makes the movie look not only hilarious but also an I-want-to-see!
Star Wars: Clone Wars Trailer Shows All-Out Jedi Mayhem.... via io9. Hopefully this one won't be taken down too soon.
Doctor Who Season 4 trailer!! Not actually high quality, youtube only.... man, I can't wait!
Apple has the latest trailer for WALL•E up. I'm looking more and more towards this movie all the time. Make sure you watch up to the end of the trailer, cute and funny.
So the new Hulk movie is coming out in a few months and tonight there is going to be a teaser for it on TV, and there is a teaser for that online now.
Firstshowing.net has the Dual International Speed Racer Trailers Launch. At first I was a bit unsure about this movie, but it does look like a very fun and visually cool looking comic-book-y show.... kinda like the early batman movies, but not taking themselves as seriously (and sucking so much (other than the first one of course)).
Guess we'll get to see when it comes out May 9th.
New ‘Iron Man’ Trailer via Geeks of Doom. Holy crap I can't wait for this movie!
‘X-Files 2’ Teaser Trailer at WonderCon. Best part for me was the screaming of the people in the audience as they (I presume) realized what they were seeing and were enveloped by the absolute coolness of it all! As an old-time X-Files buff, I can definitely relate :)
Looks like I wasn't the only one disappointed with the Knight Rider movie last night..... IO9 declares that Knight Rider Smashes Our Childhood Memories Without Turbo Boost.
Way too much driving, not enough KITT, way too many commercials, not every car on the road is a ford and Hasslehoff wasn't wearing a "Don't Hassle the Hoff" shirt were among my complaints. I can only pray that the upcoming series is better.... (assuming it appears at some point of course).
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull trailer... including high def links. W00t!
Geeks of Doom has ‘Quantum of Solace’ Teaser Poster and a video with some behind the scenes info... have to wait till November though :(
IO9 has a bunch of new Knight Rider info including videos and clips.
Oh man do I so hope that this doesn't completely suck...
M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening Teaser Trailer make it look really creepy and I hope it's good.... watch the trailer and and tell me the part where it goes black and there's just 'crunch, crunch' isn't super creepy. Set to open June 13, 2008.
Iron Man new TV spot from the SuperBowl (I presume). Some awesome scenes in there... I'm really looking forward to this one now!
Via Darren comes Transformers Universe a super-cool clip of the original transformers... hard to describe, but just go check it out!
Anyone remember playing the cool-yet-creepy American McGee's Alice? I remember it, and can't wait for the movie starring Sarah Michelle Gellar!
From the Totally Rad Show episode I found a trailer for Chocolate, which is similar to Ong Bak which I totally enjoyed (think old school (young) Jackie Chan, but from Thailand). This is about a girl who is autistic in that instead of counting toothpicks she kicks ass..... Looking forward to seeing this appear somewhere.
Sharp eyed Darren pointed me to a Star Trek Teaser Trailer Review & Video. The trailer is shown apparently before Cloverfield, which starts tonight, and what I'm looking forward to seeing.
10 Reasons Why Cloverfield Lives Up To The Hype has details (and very very minor spoilers) about the new movie Cloverfield and how it does in fact live up to the hype. Looking forward to seeing it this weekend!
Via digg: First Trailer For New Knight Rider Airs. Barely a teaser, still cool to see.
More movie news.... you can check out 5 minutes of Cloverfield. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's still not going to tell us what the heck the movie is about :)
Perez Hilton posted the link to a YouTube version of the The Dark Knight trailer. Anyone got a better (HD?) version?
Update - Somehow I figured that Oneiros would be the one to find it :)
G4TV has a 10,000 BC trailer. First I've seen.... anyone know more about this movie? Will they have good teeth?
First official Indiana Jones Poster is out. I'm so looking forward to May 22nd....
What's new in Blade Runner: The Final Cut? Detailed list at SFFMedia.com.
Geeks of Doom points out that ‘The Golden Compass’ - First 5 Minutes is online at the AOL movie site.
Darren pointed that a FIRST LOOK: 'Speed Racer' Trailer is up. It's fairly low quality sadly, but shows some of the look of the movie. Looks interesting for sure.
Update There's an HD version up on MovieFone.
Oneiros points out that AICN has New Joker and Batman promo pics from The Dark Knight.
Exclusive First Pictures of KITT From The New Knight Rider TV Series... yup, it's a mustang!
More Dark Knight news as Empire Magazine reveals the Joker. Finally! Hope his performance is good, thanks Dave!
Latest website found by JWZ is The Ha Ha Ha Times, a site by the joker it appears.
Darren pointed me to a proper quality The New Cloverfield Trailer. Whhohoo!
Even though it seems to be getting panned a bit, Don't Link This has the Only reason to see Beowulf.... yup, a new trailer for Cloverfield. I presume though this is going to show up on the Apple Trailers page fairly soon.
'J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield is Back has a new trailer coming soon. Link has some info.
Couple of shots of Zachary Quinto as Spock. Zachary is best know (to me anyway) as Sylar from Heroes.
My coworker PeeJay pointed me to The Mist Internet Trailer.... which I have to say, looks really good and I only hope that this movie stays as faithful to the book as Shackshank did.
While you're waiting for the I am Legend trailers, check out Jumper Trailer - World Premiere found in the Digg comments. Looks very cool. Why haven't I heard about this yet?
There are Two New I Am Legend Movie Trailers out. Good luck getting to them as they appear to be dugg, slashdotted, or reddited or something now.
Update: Found some on YouTube.
Star Trek casting details emerge. Scott Simon Pegg as Scotty (he's the skinny guy from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) and John Cho as Sulu (Harold, from Harold and Kumar go to White Castle).
Whoohooo, found a New Wall-E Movie Trailer. Wall-E is the new movie from Pixar.
Apple has the Iron Man trailer. I'm not 100% convinced, but it does look pretty cool! :)
Ain't It Cool News has a preview and spoilers of Blade Runner: The Final Cut up for your perusal.
Thanks to Darren for pointing me to Run, Fat Boy, Run, hilarious looking new movie from Simon Pegg, who did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem trailer is out. Yowza, definitely not something you'll see on TV anytime soon, lots of people's heads exploding and the like. Super-cool stuff!
OMG. Sounds like JJ Abrams (of Lost fame) will be doing a Dark Tower movie, which Stephen King confirms.
I'm torn about this. I consider the Dark Tower King's best work, and up there in my favorite books of all time (it's a series I literally have been reading since high school). However, movies from books don't translate well, case in point, Bourne Identity (a fine movie, but incrediably cut down from the original book), 99% of Stephen King's other movies, and a host of others. See my previous comments on this.
The only way to do the DT justice is to make it a mini-series, with a minimum 8 hours per-book.
I can only pray that this doesn't destroy my memories of this series :)
Whohoo! Low res, but in existance, check out this Iron Man trailer from Comic Con.
I've seen most of this already, but if you haven't, check out the Bionic Woman preview.
The Bee movie, Jerry Seinfeld's new project has a trailer online. Looks..... uhmm.... kinda lame to be honest.
Get Smart Teaser Movie Trailer, thanks Forever Geek!
I remember watching Get Smart back in the day and just loving the coolness, cornyness and funnyness of the whole thing. Lets hope that they don't destroy this part of my childhood.... Transformers was excellent, I hope that Steve Carell does as well as Max Smart.
Fish, Rats, Chefs and Robots. - all about designing characters for pixar's movies.
13 minute HBO show First Look: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix via Geeks of Doom.
Last Transformers story today, I promise. This pic of a name change form shows someone who is way to into the transformers.
Cool look at the Transformers Special Effects from popular mechanics.
Geeks of Doom has a transformers review. Good review, right in line with the rest, saying that other than a couple of minor things (juvenile love story sub-plot for example), the movie kicks ass and does not destroy your childhood :)
I'll probably be going tomorrow night, assuming I can juggle things around properly.
Movie reviews blog has 2 New Transformers Clips as does Forever Geek. Have I mentioned how much I am looking forward to this movie?
Adam Savage (of mythbusters fame) argues why Blade Runner still holds up special effects wise. I have to agree, there is definately something to be said for a movie that doesn't use all CG and green screens, sadly too many movies these says have horrible acting (*cough*ep1/2/3*cough*) due in part to (IMHO) the fact they are acting against nothing but massive green sets. Back in the day (Blade Runner for example) they had actual sets and props and you can tell (IMHO).
Sadly while I love the idea of Blade Runner, it really ends up being a favorite movie to not watch. Last time I watched it I found it almost..... boring, even though it wasn't, even though I know it's a great movie.
I had the pleasure of seeing Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer with Firefly and Dana (of the very famous security blog </plug> :)
Read below for my take on it.... may be minor spoilers in there (though I'm sure you can pretty much guess most of it anyway :)
First of all I was happy for Oneiros that Galactus was not represented by a guy in a robe. The trailer has a scene that indicates that the Surfer is talking to a hooded, robed guy who you assume is Galactus, but lucky for the comic book purists he's represented in a far bigger way.
The movie picks up a few months or years after the first movie, with the FF dealing with the ups and down of being superstars. They are drawn from their "normal" superhero lifestyle when a mysterious force in the form of the Silver Surfer appears, and they discover that the surfer precedes the complete destruction of any world that he visits.
Fun ensues.
The movie was fun, and in my opinion worth the $8 to see it in the theaters. There's definitely something about certain movies that, for me anyway, makes it worth going to the theater for the 'big screen' experience (of course, these days that involves over priced popcorn, 20 minutes of ads before the previews even start, people kicking the back of your chair, checking their cell phones, and spilling their drinks on your feet... not that I'm bitter!).
The special effects are great of course, and the characters are not bad. I still find Jessica Alba wooden and while incredibly attractive, somehow not sexy at all. She really tries hard to act in the wedding scene, but really (to me) seems to blend into the background. The Human Torch and The Thing were the main focus in this movie. There was a fairly good mix of comedy and seriousness, with the standard array of predictable characters coming in and out (the stern and unforgiving general, the evil guy who double crosses, etc). The action and storyline are probably very predictable for comic book fans (who know who/what Galactus and the Silver Surfer are and do) and only mostly predictable for most savvy movie goers.
Other than the predictability and wooden performance from a couple of the characters, the only real complaint I have about this movie (for what it is anyway) is there is a chase scene through some mountains with what I think were great special effects, but the chase happened at night, so you couldn't see the great effects!
My recommendation (as I don't have a proper rating system here) is go see it on cheap night at the theater, or go see it on DVD at a friends place with a nice 42" LCD TV and surround sound system ;)
Transformers review of an early showing (or screener or something like that) over at AICN. Check it out here.
Not the best quality, but the 6th Transformers Commerical makes its way online. Man I can't wait for this movie!!!
There is a teaser for Star Wars Clone Wars available. Looks pretty good IMHO, a nice mix of cartoony-ness and realism done in 3D models. Check it out! According to wikipedia, the series is expected to debut in 2008 :(
Via digg is a good article which compares Theatrical Cuts vs Director’s Cuts, and is a good look at what changed, and what (if anything) was better/different/worse in the two cuts. Includes such classics as Leon, Brazil, and Apocalypse Now.
Stars Wars: Where Are They Now? shows pics of the actors from Star Wars, well, then and now. Kinda neat to see how folks have changed. Wow, Harrison was young!
Forever Geek threw up the Extended Fantastic Four clip that aired last night after Heroes' Season Finale. Anyone else a little disappointed with the Heroes finale? I thought it was kinda.... well, a big build up and then a pretty lame end. Also what happened to "we're not going to drag this out season after season" and then suck you right into season 2. Grrr...
There is a Bionic Woman Sneak Preview up on YouTube. Looks potenialy like a cool fall diversion. Looks like JWZ found a full version.
Transformers Movie Update: Sector Seven Video Gives Nod To Dinobots, Insecticons, Lazerbeak And Generation One Bumblebee. My fav is the original bumblebee :)
Oh. My. God. This new Transformers trailer looks super-double-plus-awesome. Transformers fighting, lots of transformers, no lips on Optimus Prime.... looked all good (except for the one part where there was a transformer skating down the highway, but we'll see when it is released on July 4 :)
A nice collection of long movie takes. I probably wouldn't have bothered to look at this page, much less post it if I hadn't noticed (and raved to everyone I talked about it with) the super-long takes in Children of Men.
How Lightsabers Work. Old yet good!
A lightsaber blade can deflect blaster bolts. In most cases you will want to deflect the bolts back at the person who shot them at you in the first place, but it is also possible to deflect ...
Cool, a 9 minute preview of Ratatouille is available from Apple. Ratatouille is the new movie from Pixar about a French rat who dreams of being a chef, but is hindered by his heritage, mainly that is, by being a rat.
50 New Transformers Photos via Digg. Nothing immensely amazing, but good to check out. Who is the girl, whohohoo hotness!
Some more info as Bay updates us on Transformers:
The unreleased ad (Prime speaks) that was posted on youtube was a test that European were making with the ads. The clip where OP was "speaking," lets just say that it wasn't OP or Cullen speaking. It was something the European studios added on their own. In fact, it was a test shot.
They are referring to the infamous youtube clip that all the hardcore nerds (you know who you are) got their panties in a knot about how Optimus Prime had lips :)
Another new trailer for the latest Harry Potter trailer. Only youtube size, but still good. It'll be showing in front of Spiderman 3 in May.
Title says it all.... THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM on Yahoo! Movies.
Best line in the trailer: "... trying to kill him and failing.... just pisses him off." :)
ISEB has some new Spider-Man 3 Film Clips. Great stuff, but some spoilers in a way, so if you want to go into spidey 3 totally blank, keep away :)
As an added bonus a new trailer is up, with lots of new goodies in there.
Forgetfoo has a 7 Minute Peek of Spiderman 3. This has been posted before, but what the heck, Spidey rocks!
Oneiros pointed me to the Stardust trailer a week or two ago, looks like it's finally up on apple's site. YAMFACBOGN (Yet Another Movie From A Comic Book Or Graphic Novel) that looks pretty damn awesome. The HD version is here.
The Battlestar Galactica podcast commentary for the season finale, "Crossroads Part 2" (0320) is finally online. Kudos to Ronald D. Moore for doing these by the way, fascinating to listen to what goes on behind the scenes of TV's best series.
How long till season 4 again?
Ugh, Forever Geek found a Species Quattro Trailer... won't they ever learn? The good news is that there's some info from Kevin Smith on his new horror movie entitled Red State. Can't wait for the latter, can't wait to completely miss the former :)
Just up on yahoo movies is the LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD trailer. Looks like an unrelenting series of amazing car, chopper, plane, jet, truck, and bridge stunts, each wilder and less believable than the next.
I can't wait! :)
Speaking of Transformers, here's a couple of new TV spots. Oneiros emailed me these the other day, but I forgot to post them. Here they are in flash format anyway :)
Some cool pics from the transformers movie of Transformers actually fighting!
Every time I see more from this movie I can't wait for it to be here and so hope it doesn't suck.
Funny trailer for "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry", the latest from Adam Sandler and friends. Looks potentially funny, not sure how offensive it is or isn't to straight or gay couples. I at least giggled at it.
Sweet New Transformers posters. Not to hip with the Megatron one, love the Optimus Prime though!
A nice comparison of the "300" movie to comics. I saw this movie last night and can't wait to see it again.... in a word "gorgeous". The look, the colors, the action sequences, the choreography.... just amazing. You could also tell the story was ripped right out of the pages of the comic book (as shown in the link).
Go see it. Now.
Some pics of Venom from spiderman 3 over here. Don't click if you want to be totally surprised... doesn't look like there are that many spoilers though, just the look of Venom.
Apparently during Heroes last night (not for me though) there was a new Spiderman 3 trailer. If you missed it fear not, you can get it on the Spider-Man 3 HD on NBC site. ThanksForever Geek (nice new design btw!).
Sweet find from Darren. 300 Seconds of 300. Low res, youtube quality, but still cool to see!
Forever Geek noticed a New Fantastic Four Spot. I have to admit I'm getting a bit excited about this one as well.
Forever geek reveals a very nice looking New Image from the upcoming Babylon 5 Movie. Wait a minute, there's an upcoming Bab5 movie? Cool!
Now this is exciting for me.... Forever Geek dug up that JJ Abrams to direct King's Dark Tower. The Dark Tower is a fantastic seven book series from Stephen King that has been on my own internal version of the 10 best movies never made.
It's also scary to me, because unless this is a 30 or 40 hour movie they are never going to capture the book properly. Stephen King's It was an OK attempt to make a movie of one of King's best loved horror stories and it was 192 minutes.... 3.2 hours! Now remember that the dark tower series is a full seven stories of incrediable depth written over a period of over thirty years! So based on that this movie would have to be over 22 hours long :)
Guess we'll see what happens...
It's apparently almost oscar time, and the pirates are out in full effect at Oscartorrents.com. They even have a legal note:
To those worried about downloading in case they get sued: by our calculations, your chances of getting nailed are way less than your chances of winning the lottery. Don't think twice about it.
In addition to torrents for all the movies in all the oscar categories, so you can play along at home!
A cool entry from Bruce Campbell's video blog on his roles in the Spider Man movies. Another hot one from Darren, as usual :)
I'm a bit worried about Live Free or Die Hard, it just has so much potential to be so so bad compared to the first one or two.
Cat5 will be happy to hear that the Sci-Fi channel is making a "Diamond Age" miniseries. I hope they don't screw it up. Another Stephenson book that I'd love to see a movie of (but know they can't do it) is Snow Crash, which incidentally make #3 on a list of top ten sci-fi movies that never existed.
W00t! Lucas officially announced that production of Indiana Jones 4 will start in 2007. Finally! I won't believe it until I see it in the theaters though :)
My only worry is that they left it too long and some of the magic will be gone. Well, that and the fact that Harrison Ford is getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the young 'un he was in the original trilogy. I'm also worried that the new IJ will fall victim to the same thing that happened with the new Star Wars movies.... they weren't nearly as good as the old timers remembered the originals being (or thought we remembered them being anyway) and the kids didn't seem to have the history with the original trilogy to make the new trilogy (as) relevant. Course, the new Star Wars trilogy kinda sucked as well, which didn't help. Hopefully we wont' have Indy fighting hoards of computer generated characters (though for some reason I have a feeling we will, case in point a few of the scenes in Curse of the Golden Flower looked like the orc battles from LoTR...).
This Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer - Teaser Trailer is much better than the Youtube video that was posted a couple of days ago. Nice and in HD, showing some good footage. Will be interesting to see how this franchise does. Any comic book experts want to point us newbies to info on what this silver surfer stuff is all about?
Sorry for the lack of posting lately, got hit with a bug or food poisoning or something.... anyway, here's a new Transformers movie trailer for your enjoyment. Shows a lot more than the previous teaser, though not nearly enough IMO :)
Title pretty much says it all..... the Die Hard 4 teaser looks as action packed as the first three. We'll see about plot though :)
So looks like we'll have to wait another seven months for the new Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
I'm not sure how I feel about this (again). Seems that Disney is making a movie of the book Bridge to Terabithia. This was one of my favorite books as a young lad, and actually disturbed me a lot, if anyone remembers how it ended. Can justice be done? I mean they did Narnia last year (not bad) are redoing Transformers (potentially horrible, but we'll see), and Charlotte's Web (trailers look good, but will they come through?) and seem to be on a tear of movies with their origins in the 80s. Maybe this is a case of all the kids of that generation (ie: me) getting old enough to now make movies and are deciding to make their favorite childhood stories.
So yea, there's a trailer, clicky clicky and tell me what you think.
The Tranformers Pics page is a lot of toy and concept images, but there are some nice gems from the soundstages.
I think I'm going to have to buy this video based on the opening Chase scene alone. Definitely shows the French affection for pakour (free running) (wikipedia entry).
Apparently Reno 911 is a TV show or something, now they have a movie. Looks hilarious though, I may have to see if I can find the TV version somewhere to catch up. Worth it?
Paul Thurrott has a very nice Windows Vista Review. He goes into the history of the product, the 7 different editions and what they really mean. He's up to part 3 of 8 right now, so keep checking in if you're looking to get your vista fix.
For everyone who watches Battlestar Galactica, here's the Atmospheric Jump portion from the last episode, possibly the most awesome 2 minutes in TV memory IMHO. If you're not watching BSG, you really need to! Hurry up now, while there's only 2 seasons to catch up with!
Roland D. Moore's Podcast Commentary is fantastic as well.
Random interesting link for Battlestar Galactica fans, a page with some of the Season 1 shooting locations. More interesting of course for the Vancouverites of course :)
A new Trailer for the movie Eragon is out in all sizes from small whopping 1080p HD. If you haven't heard about this movie before, well, I haven't either :) However, it looks like a non-sucky, non-cheesy version of Dungeons & Dragons. Dragons, fireballs, wizards and magic, oh my!
This is very cool. Lured in by this reddit story about what Sam and Frodo really saw on the set of LoTR:TTT, I checked out the rest of the site, which has lots of really cool visuals from movies, both matte paintings and pre-visualization artwork.
A very cool movie I've seen on a couple of link sites entitled Spin and resisted watching. Something about two turntables and a time machine sounded lame/odd. I broke down and watched it and it's great, must see, and you can trust me :)
So my buddy Dave has sent this link in various forms to me 3 times now, probably about time I actually posted it. Hopefully this time it won't get taken down again.
The trailer for 300, a movie based on a graphic novel of some sort. This is the first I've heard of it, but it sounds like it's pretty exciting. Something about spartans or something like that. It looks like they got the comic book feel down nicely in the movie, styalistically anyway. I'm not sure about the look though, it's almost like a really well done CGI movie in places, not a live action one. Could be just the flash movie though. Anyway, thanks for the link(s) dude.
A nicely done comparison of the 1977 and 2004 versions of Star Wars, and the 122 changes on starwars.com. Via Paul Thurrott.
Ooohhh! A James Bond 'Casino Royale' Trailer Online. Looks good, and I have to say just based on the trailer of course, I like the new Bond (Daniel Craig). Awesome car flip towards the end of the trailer too.
And it's out on my birthday, what a great present!
Randomly clicking around and found the trailer for School For Scoundrels and man does it look funny. The trailer is funny anyway, we'll see about the movie :)
So anyone out there seen Clerks 2 yet? I was just trolling through the Memorable Quotes from Clerks II (2006) on IMDB and laughing my ass off at some of them. Anyone seen this yet? As my buddy Dana says, being a Kevin Smith movie is enough to see it.... unfortunately last weekend was pretty busy, so it'll probably wait until next weekend.
Oh man... first Transformers and now this. What part of my childhood will hollywood not want to change/update/make better?
Sometimes the most simple mashups are the best. Who'da'thunk that a simple meshing of David Bowie and a video of the Shuttle Launch would be so cool? Here's Discovery Oddity (David Bowie Meets the Discovery Launch).
Very recently posted, lots of new tidbits, very cool looking. The advanced screening people that I've heard have been raving about Superman Returns.... can't wait! View the trailer here.
I think I mentioned the Ghost Rider movie a while ago. Well, just saw that there is a trailer out there. Looks pretty cool, serious yet cartoony. We'll still see if it turns out to be an abomination to my childhood memories :)
Very cool, not only is BSG Season 3 coming sson (well, October), but it's also going to be far darker.
I can't wait!
Seems like a good day for trailers..... forgetfoo points to a Ghost Rider Revealed trailer, starring who appears to be Nicolas Cage. I guess my only real question here is "will this be a travesty". Ghost Rider was one of the few comics I read when I was a Wii lad, and while I don't remember that much of the details, I do remember how cool it was at the time. Will Nick Cage bring Johnny Blaze to life properly?
Dave threw me an email to get off my ass and watch the new Superman Returns trailer. I've been a bit out of it lately, and all I can say is "wow"!
Mr Cranky has chimed in as well, offering this nugget at the end of the review:
There are several shocks in this movie. Unfortunately, the appearance of some semblance of acting ability from The Rock is not among them.
I'm still wanting to see it though.... I mean, this is a movie that I've heard about and wanted to see made literally since it was first talked about in the Doom 2 or Quake 1 (or was it even earlier?) days. I'm going in with really low expectations and I know (as I said before) that it'll be bad... and I don't care, it'll be a blast :)
[...] of course, the first person mode which actually looks pretty cool, though I think I'd prefer a few 30 second to 2 minute sequences of it than a single 12 minute section of the movie that I think they're going to do.Guess we'll see Oct 21!
obFuzzy - Baby penguins are cute! I want one to play with the cats with.
Update: Darren linked to torrents of a trailer, not sure if it's the same as the one I saw originally, if not, sucks to be you I guess.... hope the guys site goes back up soon :)
The movie itself looks very disney-esque, like spy-kids, not the adult version of the kids series, but who knows, it might not suck!
"The plan with the movie is that it will combine live action with CGI. I think it's going to be something the audience has never seen before. In all the years of movie-making, I don't think the image of a truck transforming into a 20-foot tall robot has ever been captured on screen. I also want to make a film that's a homage to 1980s movies and gets back to the sense of wonder that Hollywood has lost over the years. It will have those Spielberg-ian moments where you have the push-in on the wide-eyed kid and you feel like you're 10 years old even if you're 35. That's the energy I want to go for."[...]
DeSanto says that the film will be based on Generation One and set on Earth and that he's been rewatching all the cartoons and reading all the comics.
You're trying to tell me that Lara Croft can't easily and efficiently kick the ass of a Nobel Prize winner but she can stop a 1/2 ton shark with one punch? Have you seen any Nobel Prize winners lately? Martial arts and kick-boxing isn't really their thing.
Google for Asterix and Obelix if you're not up with who these guys are.... I used to read the comics when I was a wee one and still have a full stack which I periodically go through. Great art, great stories and characters. It's all centered around a small village in Gaul, the last outpost against the Roman army, helped by a magic potion which gives them incrediable strength. Definately recommended for anyone, even if you have to say you're getting them for your kids (who should enjoy them as well :)
As a bonus, check out the stashcam or best of the stashcam (a webcam at Kevin Smith's store, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash).
Can't wait!
This is the first I've seen of this movie, which appears to be about a guy who "doesn't fit in" (typical) and has the ability to control a large number of mice, which he uses to, well, do his bidding. Hit the trailer I linked to (large) or if you're net-deprived go and choose a different size.
This one doesn't make me want to go see it as much as say, the Daredevil or Matrix trailers, but hey, you never know...
There is also an all encompassing thread with every stitch of info that has been gathered on Episode III.
Did I use "Sandler" and "act" in the same sentence? But you really have to read it for yourself to get the full impact
